It's ridiculous that they haven't figured a better spot for this tournament at this point. It's actually a big money event now and should be held where you have the option of closing a roof. Too much has to go perfect weather wise to even wrap up these early rounds before midnight

Any suggestions for where they should hold it?

Auburn Kentucky moved to tomorrow morning first game. Not sure yet if that means we play Thursday morning now or if winner of that one is forced to play a DH

They're always lucky to get even 4 games in 1 day. We're starting no earlier Thursday morning. I'm predicting more like Thursday afternoon or evening.

Wut lol

If you’re, say, a top 1-4 seed in the conference, it gives you a chance to solidify or better your positioning. Also a chance to jump ahead of some non conference teams in the high end. There’s absolutely a plus to doing well in the tournament.

Every team has played 50+ games by this point. By that point you've been good enough to achieve a top 1-4 seed, but you still need 3, 4, 5 more games (many times against back of the rotation pitching) due to the nature of the tournament so "solidify" you are a good team?

Certainly it can't be said there is no benefit. But that's not the question. The question is does the potential benefit to the top teams outweigh the potential risk of negative consequences? Tennessee could go 0-2 by throw a different person in the dog costume each day and it would make no difference at all. And is Arkansas beating a 12 seed throwing a weekday starter really that impactful when comparing them to an ACC game? Probably not given that there are 50+ other games to use as a comp.

From a fans perspective the tournament is great. It give you something to pay attention to in an otherwise boring part of the sport's calendar. But from a team perspective it probably doesn't mean much. Hell, I remember last year people on this board going crazy because (9) LSU lost in the opening round to (8) Georgia in a NCAA Tournament "elimination game". As it turned out that lost meant nothing because LSU made the NCAAT while Georgia didn't.

With the expanding SEC, Minute Maid makes sense. Astros can easily get scheduled on the road for the duration of the tournament.

I like the idea of MM to be weatherproof.

I also really like the “regional” format the Southland is doing.

Yes they do play 7 inning games in the conference tournament. LSU had to beat Georgia twice on a Saturday to advance to the championship game on Sunday in 2009.

They should just make the tournament single elimination. Easier to get the games in when weather is bad. The better teams don't have to stress over the pitching rotation so much due to trying to have it lined up for regionals. Less injury concerns. I understand double elimination in the CWS, but it really isn't a good thing for the SEC tournament imo.

Is there really any reason to expand the tournament to more than 12 teams when OU and TX join? 4 shitty teams get to stay home instead of 2

This is more in reference to geographical location of the site as the Sec gets more westward weighted
