Hypothetically if you were putting together a trip for the last few days in March and the first few days in April what areas have the best conditions at that time of the year?

Budget isn't a huge issues. Mainly looking for good snow, a good village and nice accommodations.

Aspen meets all the criteria if you have the budget.

Breck typically has great snow in early April.

I've done Vail at that time of the year before and it was slushy. May have just been a bad year though.

Latest I've ever been was April 15, it was in Vail. We had a good 4-6" fall the day we got there, so the conditions were excellent.

I would bet anywhere in Utah would be great this year with the pace they are on.

Breck is usually open until May I believe.

Hypothetically, I’d go to Utah. Wasatch Range - Snowbird/Alta/Solitude.

I’ve been there the last three seasons in April and gotten hammer pow.

Snowbird - April 25, 2022 - Road to Provo drop in:

Snowbird- April 26, 2022 - Dropping the Cirque Traverse

Salt Lake City is so easy to get in and out of by air.
All the resorts above are within a thirty minute drive from the airport.

La Niña season so we could see another late season out West.

I’ll most likely head to Snowbird around Easter for one last fix.

Standard procedure is an effort to keep some of the mountain open until May 31st, if possible.

Pretty much every mountain outside of places like PC and Steamboat that are lower elevation should be A+ during the last week of March/first week of April.

Slush is just part of the game in the spring though. It’s not a bad thing, slush skiing is second only to real pow in my mind, and it can even be more fun with the warmth and the sun and the lack of crowds.

Agreed. Some of my best runs have been in slush. Sucks if you get rained on though.

Abasin stays open through may often. Very cool local place. Going to ski a few days there the week after Easter. Was there the same week last year and we had some good snow storms. The day we left 70 was shut down and it snowed its arse off that following week.

Headed to Breck next week. 9th - 13th. Can't wait to escape these miserable 80+ degree temps. Can any of the weather guru's let me know my chances of seeing the white stuff fall? Weather channel has been flip flopping last few days.

Revelstoke didn't dissapoint, got there late Friday night from Kelowna. Snowed pretty much from Saturday morning until Sunday night, this was my rental truck on Sunday morning...

It was an epic day, deepest powder I have ever skied. Since my skis didn't make it from Vancouver I was able to rent some QST Blanks which handled the conditions great. The glade skiing was amazing...

It is a wild mountain, with some gnarly terrian. Almost got cliffed out on a few occasions. North Bowl was closed for most of the day until they opened the lower part of it, I got into some amazing untouched lines. If you are an advanced or better skier this is a place needs to be on your bucket list.

Just got into Kamloops now, going to hit Sun Peaks for a few days before ending my BC trip in Whistler. Fortunately my skis were waiting for me at my hotel.

The big picture is absolutely what you want to see.

GFS and Euro both hitting on something Wed-Fri next week. Low track on both would favor shite to our south, but would be energetic enough to dump a little.

Ah man, sad you’re leaving Revy.

I stayed in the glades for four days and posted the hike up to North Bowl.

We could be friends.

Last spike upper, heading to Clyde’s Secret Glades/Iron Glaiden:

So you would stick to mountains with a base of around 7500-8000' or so and greater?

I may have undersold it a bit. It was slush with muddy patches mid-mountain down. Probably just a bad year for Vail though.

Just got back from my first ski trip in 22 years - it really did come back quick, like riding a bike. Was my wife and son's first ever ski trip, and they caught the bug...already asking when we can go again. We did Beaver Creek with family, and conditions were good - some snow days, some sunny days.

I'm going to go through this thread for ideas, but I'm looking to burn some Hyatt points next year. Anyone have experience with the Grand Hyatt Vail or Hyatt Centric Park City? Convenience (ski in, ski out) and ski quality are biggest factors. I can ski blacks, wife and son ski blues and greens. We all prefer groomed trails.

ETA - also looking at Top of the Village in Snowmass.

Finally got to do the cirque at WP this season after my third trip this season. It wasn't open for my first two trips. It was well worth the 20 min hike!

I skied the Blanks on a wet powder day last April in Tahoe. I went with the 194's I think. Getting any kind of turn in absolutely whooped my butt.

Every mountain in Tahoe was above average for the season yesterday AM. Sunday was a very solid storm day on the lower mountain lifts but it was hard to imagine how they were going to handle the additional 6 or whatever feet is coming in. Planning on skiing Saturday-Monday. Should be some pretty rowdy storm days again.
