or this (the actual hot dog being used in whatever dish you want)



.. which yields really different submissions. So I didn't participate for that reason.

Not necessarily. We've had soup, sandwich, pie, etc.

Picture one is a hotdog, picture two is a weenie, imo. But I will say that what these folks did with their weenies was pretty incredible.
