I thought that was one of those bullshite made up numbers but apparently he actually signed a contract for that amount. Which is about the same contract amount slotted for the 24th pick of the NFL draft. Fricking INSANE

So about 3 million a year? Do you know how much Gino Smith made this year? 3.5 million and he is the starting QB for a playoff team. If Florida agreed to 13 million then they are getting what they deserve. Props to the kids agent though..

This is one that can honestly not be put in the NCAA. It's beyond their reach. If they had their way there would be no NIL. They lost in court hence why NIL exists. They have no ability to cap it, regulate it or generally do a thing about any of it. Read around about this stuff. Everyone and their brother is calling for Congress to reign it in. They are the only group legally able to regulate any of it. Doubt it's anywhere near the top of their agenda.
You can put the blame on the programs. They spent decades making billions off these kids backs and now want to complain they have to give a little back. Add that with an everchanging social landscape and you can basically classify NIL as college footballs version of reparations.

1. He isn’t getting paid that much. Even if it was agreed upon, he isn’t going to school there

Right, it’s all made up. No one was intending to pay Rashada 13 million dollars.
The only exception would be if he stayed all 4 years at UF and had a really good freshman season and then put up Burrow 2019 numbers for the next 3 years.
Then they’d figure out a way to make the numbers work.
Otherwise it’s all BS. Rashada and his handlers may not have understood this, or maybe the UF people communicated it badly or outright lied.
But I feel very confident that the money he would get upfront would be in the mid six figures by year’s end, with plenty of carve outs for subsequent years if he was on the bench or just not as good as expected.

Why is it OK for high school baseball players to make that kind of money to play in the minor leagues, but not OK for football players?

Is this a for real question, lol. Bc they are not a high school baseball player or college players, they are professional baseball player once drafted and signed a contract with a major league ball club. If you going to use an example try one relevant to the issue. Not trying to compare a professional athlete to a college athlete.

1) Most lose money on athletics and don't make money even on football
2) NIL isn't paid from the Athletic Dept funds.

So if this is the ase, why even require them to go to school. Why not just jump straight to the NFL. Once these kids get this kind of money, they are much less motivated.
