TBH, I'm surprised that at least one judge didn't give Volk 3 rounds because of how he ended the fight with the momentum. But, Islam clearly won 3 rounds fairly easily.

I had 3 and 5 as clear Volk rounds. That’s it though. I also don’t think Islam Won any round as convincing as Volk won 3 and 5, but I still thought he won 1,2, and 4.

Is there any specific criteria or should I say recent changes/modifications for the judges to score the fights.
Sometimes I wonder if certain fight outcomes would be changed if there were either no rounds or the judges look at the fight collectively as they did in pride

Volk clearly won 2 rounds more convincingly than Islam won 3 rounds.
If this was just a point by point scoring, format, Volk probably would have won but he didn't in the boxing scoring format.

48-47 Islam to me, but I walk away twice as impressed by Volk. Incredible warrior.
JDM looks like a real threat at welterweight going forward. Wonder who will be next for him.
Yair vs. Volk is another very entertaining striking match to look forward to even though Volk has to be a heavy favorite.

People forget how many different ethnicities were under communist rule.
Dagestan is in the caucus mountain range so their resemblance would be more similar to Georgians, Armenians etc. both of those countries have amazing grappling as well.
