Any of you guys own one of the High Performance Boiling Pots?

The claim is that it brings the water to boil in 7 minutes. They're kinda pricey in the 120 quart being $466, but I boil enough that I could justify the price if the pot performs as they claim.

That's just the pot and basket? No burner?

It’s worth it but I enjoy knocking back a few beer while waiting on the water to boil

I think they were the ones that came up with the rocket pots and this is their new design(a few years old though).

They work.

$466 buys a lot of propane.

I read once where aluminium pots are superior to stainless steel for boiling seafood because A aluminum is thinner and doesn't retain heat as long and B the water comes to a boil quicker.

Get a regular pot with a double burner. Fill with the level of water you want. Turn burner on low to medium while getting ingredients ready. Very quiet and water heats up burning very little propane. Once boiling, you can turn it up once you put your seafood in to get it back to a roaring boil,

I have a rocket pot which works using similar tech. They legit work.

They used to sell aluminum versions that were super cheap, in line with other aluminum boiling pots. It’s a no brainer to get one if you can find an aluminum one.

My brother-in-law has one similar except the bottom has solid round lugs welded to the bottom of the pot instead of those hollow rectangular tubes. He got it about 15 years ago and it was only around $250 back then.

His pot does come to a boil much faster than a typical smooth bottom boiling pot, but at the price of those pots, I'll take a hard pass.

I always laugh when I see these and similar pots.

OweO level post coming:

I came down for my first crawfish bowl in the early 90's with one of my law school friends. We stayed at his grandparents house and they had a big bowl. We did it several times over the years we were close.

The first time I noticed how long it took to bring the water to a boil. Being an avid backpacker and mountaineer I had used heat exchangers on my pots regularly. The one I still have is an MSR and they still make them:

They go around any camping pot and MSR also made a heat reflector and windscreen which also increased efficiency. Back then I couldn't just pull a picture up on the internet and I can't draw for shite so my attempts to explain it were met with deserved derision. I had gotten close to his GF so after about the third trip I decided to have one made for him. I got the guy that did my metal fab for my cars to make a pot with a full-length heat exchanger from square Al tubing along with a heat reflector and windscreen. This thing heated water with the speed of an induction stove. I gave it to his GF who loved up but when I told the folks at the boil it would cost about $250 to have them made their interest died.

When I saw my first commercial pot with a heat exchanger I just had to shake my head.
