This ref acted like a tough guy all game yet didn't really have the balls at all to make the call.

Well he missed an obvious handball error on Gabriel as well when he straight up picked the ball up after the whistle blew for the goal kick.

Here’s a link to it, with a video embedded

He didn’t miss it, he dismissed it based on the spirit of the law. It did not happen defending the goal, gave no advantage to Arsenal, didn’t endanger anyone and had no effect on the game whatsoever. The only punishment for that offense is a penalty. He couldn’t give a goal kick to Bayern or some punishment that fits the offense.

Common sense was used, and you can argue if the referee was correct in doing so. There was a write up comparing this to someone being arrested for jay walking on an empty street. If that was the only punishment someone could give, the officer isn’t going to do it.

Believe me, I saw it. As soon as it happened live I told my friend wtf is he doing, that's a pen. When it wasn't called I was shocked.

I mean by rule of law he intentionally touched the ball in the box with his hand, common sense doesn't matter. It should have been a pen and if it was the Prem VAR they would have reviewed it and given it. Would it have been harsh? Yes. You can't say the ref was shite tho because he didn't give the pen on Neur while he doesn't give that.

I never said the ref was shite.

I also understand his non pen decision on Saka. I initially thought it was clear that Saka stuck his leg out. I’ve soften my stance a bit giving some other looks, and think it’s more 50/50 call (his right leg doesn’t really have a where to go as he is cutting across). On both the hand ball and that occasion VAR was in his ear.

All I pointed out was that he didn’t miss the hand ball call, but he used his discretion. Including VAR letting him know what happened. I also didn’t say whether it was right or wrong. Glad they didn’t call it.

While this was a pretty unique situation, refs do this all the time with second yellows, set piece jockeying in the box, etc.

Villa this weekend. Hoping Unai plays passive ball and gifts us 3 or 4 goals so we can rest some guys for Wednesday.

Need Saka, Rice, and probably Ben White as rested as possible for Wednesday

So is Havertz playing the 10 role and Ode sitting in behind him?

I thought Havertz would get some rest for Jesus, and Martinelli as well for Trossard.

It’s up to Arsenal now to end city’s run.

Wild for Pool to lose 2 in a row at home, with 0 goals scored

If we win today, I may start believing. Na give me 1 week, if we win today AND at Wolves next weekend, I'll definitely believe.

I just looked at City's remaining games in the league

A - Brighton
A - Forest
H - Wolves
A - Fulham
A - Spurs
H - West Ham

On paper easier than ours but add in the FA Cup semifinals and fixture congestion and we may be in business. Need them to drop at least 4 points from here to the end of the season and we may be celebrating at the end of the season in 5 weeks

Bit sloppy to start. Not a great pass from Ode on that breakaway

Not as bad as the Bayern match, but the final balls around the box are lacking today.
