Damn. When I worked there years ago it seemed like most of the households we lost were due to them having to add a young driver and other carriers being way cheaper on those. Just wait til he gets a ticket or in a wreck

Here’s a secret from someone who has been on both sides of the bar: personal injury lawyers are far too lazy to come after you personally unless you have major assets. And even then, if you have decent limits ($100k plus), it’s likely your carrier will settle if the person you hit is actually hurt.

Demographics be different.
Should impound car, have a last resort auto insurance company, annual policy paid in full, (impound car and sell at auction) after second time caught.
SW states are having these issues with uninsured illegals, La has always had this problem.

To me, that’s theft. Everything should be covered under full coverage bc we are doing it right. Shouldn’t have to pay extra. Shouldn’t have to pay extra to have my vehicle repaired bc of scum and if they’d immediately tow and leave the pos stranded on the roadside who doesn’t have insurance, as well as suspended their license for a year, maybe some would get it. I do carry those coverages, btw. Just shouldn’t have to.

Have a lot more than that in somewhat liquid assets

Buying high limit car insurance is a scam. The highest I would ever consider is probably 50/100.

Most assets either can't be gone after at all or are easy to hide from the leeches.

You understand that this is the exact attitude that makes all of our rates higher right? GTFO with your litigious BS.

We just went up to 250/500 and had to do a 2 mil umbrella.

Surprisingly enough we use Farm Bureau and they are reevaluating their policies with some new deal and we pay the same now as we did with their old rating system.

Even though we maxed our autos and got the umbrella

First time getting fricked by the system for being a good person? Unfortunately society has deemed people that have given up to be more important than you.

Mine are 250/500 in order to carry an umbrella. When I was poor I carried bare minimum.

I love the OT. If you don’t understand something it must be a scam.

I don’t carry high limits for liability, I carry high limits for UM.

Got hit by an uninsured motorist once and the trooper who was on scene said, "you'll never get anything from 'em...you can't squeeze blood out of a turnip."
He was 100% correct. My insurance had to pay for it all and as far as I know the driver was unaffected. Never spent one day in jail for breaking the law. The only thing I know for sure is the driver had to get a ride home cause the shite car they drove was now out of service.
I understand how a person may not be able to pay insurance but keep the car off the road if you can't.

Bear in mind that the insurance is there to protect assets subject to seizure to satisfy a judgment.

Most (through not all) people with 15/30/25 don't have shite, if you have a nice house, bank account and job, that's shite that can be seized or garnished.

When you have the highest car insurance rates in the country, this is what happens.

Nothing happens.

My son got hit by a woman who ran a red light. Totaled his car and ruptured a disc in his back. The woman didn’t have insurance. State Farm paid us and went after her to recoup their costs, but as they say, you can’t get blood from a turnip. Same exact thing happened to my parents recently.

Most people who don’t have insurance can’t afford insurance. And you can’t get something from someone who ain’t got nothin’.

Being uninsured or underinsured should result in forfeiture of the vehicle and loss of license for at least a year

This is the 1 time I support civil asset forfeiture

Obiously they're not enforcing this, otherwise you wouldn't have the I-10/Twin Span Grand Prix.
