Maybe this entire thing was orchestrated to screw initial employees out of equity payouts ?

If the goal was to make more money then they'd have let Sam keep doing what he was doing.

Ilya, the most important employee left that allegedly lead the coup, is one of the 700 employees telling the board to resign. I also found it interesting that the "new" CEO has the title of Interim CEO. This story is not over yet. Will OpenAI get weak enough for Microsoft to scoop up the rest for cheap and Microsoft's new division will be OpenAI? Would the DOJ allow that?
