Thoughts on liquid egg whites as a source of protein?

If my math serves me right, this carton of egg whites is roughly 500 calories and contains 100 grams of protein.

The carton is less than $5.

Any downside, other than a shite ton of eggs, to eating a whole carton of these a day?

Relatively cheap, low calories and a bunch of protein.

Thoughts?

It's probably fine. I feel like I'm missing out on a lot of nutrients without the yolk. Plus, it tastes a lot better. I'd be concerned with the quality of the eggs since it's so cheap.

I will use liquid egg whites as my liquid base for smoothies. Works great! Just be prepared for major protein farts though.

2 whole eggs and 3/4-1 cup of egg whites has been my go-to most mornings here recently. Have added cottage cheese in the past, as was suggested above, as well. Can't go wrong going either of those routes, egg whites by themselves are just devoid of anything other than protein, really

I use them to prep some easy breakfast foods in the mornings when I'm cutting. Otherwise, I tend to just stick with whole eggs.

As others have said, they're fine, but just missing the nutrient profile of whole eggs.

The yolk provides a lot micronutrients. Unless you’re trying to do a cut to a really low BF%, I don’t see the point.

liquid egg whites

I've always been super weirded out with egg whites that come in a carton. Just can't be great quality...it seems to me anyway.

I'll keep cracking eggs. I usually do 1 yolk to 3 egg whites.

I know some people add liquid egg whites to eggs for scrambling, but I'd rather not dilute the flavor of the eggs that I scramble. I just drink the egg whites separately, if I need that extra protein shot with my egg meal. Really doesn't have a taste.

Why don't you buy the regular liquid eggs?

Same calorie count and protein amount.

Dollars per gram of protein based off my local Walmarks:

Egg whites $.05
Chicken breast $.03
Pork loin $.04
Light Greek yogurt $.05
Muscle Milk Whey $.06

Not a huge difference.

I pour them in a bowl and nuke them for 4 min. Pour salsa over them and eat.

Easy protein meal.

House reeks like sulfur but oh well.

I will scramble the entire jug at once and mix it with cooked sausage (usually Jimmy Dean) and southern hashbrowns.

About 4-5 days of breakfast.

I used to do these all the time when I needed protein and crack a regular egg into it for the yolk benefits. I used to buy a case of these at a time bc i ate them so often. Can’t stand them now, I burned myself out on them.

Like others said they are great for extra protein. I’ll cook 2-3 real eggs over easy & then add a cup of egg whites to get best of both worlds. 50+ grams of protein
