modern white Christian man

We call other Christians, Christians. We don't have labels or hypens in Christianity. Jesus Christ has ZERO to do with melanin in someone's skin, HE's after their heart.

Once you personally learn that, accept it, and practice it, all of that other made up outrage you have will fall away.

Stop stoking the Devil and look to Jesus Christ.

knew you would reply this way. I could see it coming. Jesus washed the feet of His disciples, his followers, to example behavior of a servant leader.

Right. I was originally responding to the statement that Jesus didn’t wash the feet of the people who rejected God, when he did (Peter and Judas).

In the same chapter that I mentioned, Jesus then calls us to love one another to the extent that other people will know that we are his disciples.

This is where the modern identity of love has been inverted. If you love someone, you want the best for them. You would never cheer an alcoholic on while he's drinking, and you'd never clap as a drug addict shot up.

Love is filled with honesty. It never affirms dark practices or damaging behaviors

God is love.

Ah I noticed that you kept this part in the post and like I said on the OT the person washing the feet is mimicking the behavior of Jesus Christ, your analogy of the person "being the problem" in the ad is saying that Jesus is the problem in the original story.

You guys are hilarious. This commercial might be the best form of representation of Christ to a modern audience.

Let's be honest, Christians today are not doing a good job at instilling their beliefs into the crooked masses. Bashing a sinner over the head with the Bible does nothing, empathy and human understanding carries way more weight. If you truly care about growing His kingdom on Earth, then you will acknowledge the lowliest of sinners with respect and empathy like Christ did for the sinner on the cross.

Your theological/ideological grandstanding is disgusting and represents everything wrong with the modern church.

Oh boy yourself.

You should take your head out of your arse and take a look around every once in a while.

I agree, but you also don’t go up to the alcoholic and tell them they’re a piece of shite. With compassion and love, you try and help them out of the terrible situation they’re in.

This whole thread is very Pharisean
The add was great and right in line with the Gospels
Maybe you were just looking to be a victim
The least are first and the first are least

That was what that commercial was about

Orange Jesus hated it I'm sure

He literally washed the feet of Judas and Simon Peter

And neither rejected God. Judas betrayed Him, but that doesn't mean he didn't believe He was the Messiah. Peter denied him amongst people he thought would drag him into the same trial as Jesus, but that doesn't mean He didn't believe Jesus was the Messiah. I probably do the same or worse most days, but it doesn't mean I don't believe Jesus to be exactly who the Bible says He is. The same as Jesus says in the Bible, "the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak."

Not at all. While Jesus would have had compassion for them, and openly talked to them, His message would have been the same to any non-believer. Believe in Me and Sin no more.

I think the compassion side was there, but lacked the point that Jesus would have been rebuking their actions in the same breath.

Sometimes dudes need to hear we are a piece of shite. Kindness and compassion doesnt mean suspending reality.

Yup, great analogy. They were so embroiled in technicality of religion and missing the whole point of it.

Go to a business meeting at church if you want to see the modern church in action. See how they treat people in need and how they spend their money (looking at you Parkview Baptist). Church congregations would rather sit in their echochambers and battle over details of their belief for hours but won't spend 5 minutes with someone in need.

Male mind vs female mind. Nurture vs confront.

Sometimes you need to show a bitch how to wash their own feet and expect them to be able to provide for themselves.

I asked my Christian sister in law

she thought the commercial was "awesome"

she voted for Trump last 2 elections

I don't know, guess it hits everyone a little different

To me it's political

coming from Hobby Lobby, a Christian lead company, seems like it would not be

but all these issues are in America pleading for us to "Accept"

and American values keeps spiraling downward
