This is how you ended up with stadiums like the Baker Bowl:

Mate,

Next do Tom Brady rushing yards in NFC stadiums, but make sure you break up Rams by St. Louis dome, Olympic Coliseum in LA, and new Rams stadium. Also break up Cowboys stadiums and 49ers stadiums into old and new.

Cheers mate

I have a book, which I can't find at the moment, saying that Babe Ruth, hitting in today's ballparks, would have hit 104 HRs in
1921

ETA. Writers name was Bill Jenkinson

up Next Sportsman's Park, home of the then St. Louis Browns (who eventually moved to Baltimore and became the Orioles)

Joe played 12 games there in 1937 and hit 8 homers.

back when I did this thread, I only looked at his 1937 season.

so I decided to look at DiMaggio's entire career instead.
I extrapolated the numbers had he played his entire home career in St. Louis' Sportsman's Park instead of New York.
(just flip flopped number of At Bats between the two parks for his career ; keeping all averages and ratios the same)

So I gave him 880 games and 3,360 at bats at Sportsman's Park (keeping his BA, G/HR, G/2b, etc. same as they were in Sportsman's).
Then I gave him only 127 games and 507 at bats in Yankee Stadium (again keeping BA and ratios the same as they were in Yankee Stadium).

Joe's New Career numbers

Batting Average: .356 (Tied with Shoeless Joe for 3rd in MLB History)
HR: 501
RBI: 1,804
2B: 484
3B: 91
Slugging %: .674 2nd all time in MLB History)

I'm gonna try to estimate what kind of numbers he could have potentially put up had he played 1943-1945 seasons as well.

yeah I know it's next to impossible to truly guess what a guy would have done in years he didn't play.
so what I did was took his averages from 1941-1942 and 1946-1947.
and just assumed that would be roughly what he would have done per year 1943-1945.

again I'm using his Sportsman's Park ratios for # of AB in Yankee Stadium (and Vice Versa).

So what kind of Career numbers might Joe DiMaggio have had he been able to play a full career (with no missed Military Time) in St. Louis?

in those 3 years he missed, he could have been somewhere around:
576 hits ; 87 HR ; 379 RBI

Batting Average: .3546 (4th all time ; only percentage points behind Shoeless Joe)
HR: 588 (10th all time)
RBI: 2,183 (4th all time)
Slg%: .660 (2nd all time)
Hits: 3,001

Thanks.

I'm going to try to do the same thing for Ted Williams in Yankee Stadium (including missed service years).

Are there any available dimensions for Negro League parks? I’d like to know what Josh Gibson was cranking out. This is a cool arse thread. You win.

Changed my mind.
His AB/HR ratio was higher in old Tiger Stadium than any other park, so I'm going to use that one.

his BA is likely higher because that is a ton of real estate to find a safe place to land a ball.

Not only that, I bet all the fielders were slower too

ok, so Teddy Ballgame Playing all of his home games in Detroit.
and obviously the road games that were in Detroit are now at Fenway.

first, the ballpark comps:

and now the numbers.

just switching parks (not estimating numbers for missed time).

BA: .330 (drops "all the way down" to Stan Musial territory )
HR: 621 (8th all-time ; 2nd at time of retirement)
RBI: 1,944 (tied for 9th with Ty Cobb)

now, estimating his 1943-1945 numbers as well as his 1952-1953 numbers
note: I removed his actual 1952-1953 stats and averaged them out the same way I did for 1943-1945 (was easier than trying to figure out games missed, and plugging in extras)

Full career (no missed Military time) playing int Detroit for Home Games:

BA: .331
HR: 775 (1st all time)
RBI: 2,418 (1st all time by a long shot)

that's what I said when I saw the numbers too.

this evening I'm going to run them in Yankee Stadium to see what those would be too.

Instead of spray charts, wouldn't it be easier to take his numbers in each park and extrapolate the numbers for each?

Just change a road park from 11 games to 77 and Yankee Stadium from 77 to 11.

that's what I did to get these numbers.
except instead of games, I based it off of at bats.

but that only works for stadiums where they had a significant number of at bats to get a good accurate ratio.
examples:
Babe Ruth only had 12 at bats at Forbes Field but hit 3 dingers.
it's not realistic to think he keeps that same pace up had he played an entire career worth of games in Pittsburgh (that would put him up close to 1,200 career homers )
