I’m certainly not victim blaming here but I’m genuinely confused on why a married man, with kids, would be at Fred’s? Or why a bachelor party, of all places, would pick fricking Fred’s?

Even if the family man was talking shite, that means he should have been murdered?

I certainly wouldn't make the decision but I could see some guys thinking it would be fun to go have a "college night out" one last time.

I was on a bachelor party several year back and stayed back while others went to Tijuana to go clubbing because I didn't think it was worth the risk given that I had a wife and 2 kids at home. Everything was fine the night and I took a good bit of shite the rest of the trip but you gotta swallow your pride when you have kids depending on you.

Is it much different than hitting the clubs in New Orleans for a bachelor party? You are there to drink, dance, and possibly flirt. Baton Rouge doesn't have many options other than Tigerland or hitting the Texas Club, especially if the group was on the younger side and wanted to mainly drink.

I don’t blame him for going to a bar, but you have to avoid the fight at all cost. A bunch of dudes starting trouble and shite talking you? Just leave. Period.

Maybe they did, but in almost every single fight I have ever seen both parties had choices not to fight

If one of the comments from earlier is correct, people were waiting for them outside when they went to leave. So, something escalated enough that these individuals felt the need to wait them out and pick up the argument again?

I’m sure the group of friends spent a bunch of time in Fred’s and figured it would be fun to go back for a night. It’s not like they were a bunch of 40 year olds, it’s really not that confusing

Like I said, I could be wrong and these guys truly just tried to leave and did nothing to participate in the fight. I just severely doubt that

Sucks he died but there are plenty of better options for a mid 20s married father in BR

The Texas Club?

Both of your questions were answered within this thread. The deceased married man was at Fred's because he was part of a bachelor party group that went to Fred's. The group went to Fred's after a baseball game at Alex Box, probably because Fred's is less than 5 minutes away and the closest non-restaurant bar to the stadium.

Bachelor party groups do things like play golf, go to a ball game, or go to a bar. None of that is unusual. If the group was doing an LSU-themed party, Fred's is the oldest "LSU bar" that's still around. It really shouldn't be an unexpected location. And it's really not strange for a married person to attend their friend's bachelor party.

Going to a ballgame and a bar right near the state's flagship university shouldn't be unsafe. And certainly not unsafe to the point of getting killed. The fact that this happened speaks volumes, though.

Fixed.

All of that area was meant for student housing. I'd love to know what percentage of the "residents" there are students today. It's turned into a criminal hive.

I have not been to Fred's since the 80's when I was going to school at LSU. If my tailgate buddies decided to go there I would be in just to go back for nostalgia's sake. Guess I would not be there after midnight (nor would I fight), but I don't think visiting Fred's is unusual for some mature folk. Fred's is the only college bar remaining from my time at LSU.

Also, I think I blame UFC for ruining fighting. When I was growing up most fighters stopped fighting when an opponent is on the ground. That signaled the end of the fight.
