This is why we have 50 states, people are free to move to whichever they like

It's dumb - but nowhere did I say that they "can't" obviously Cali residents choose this path by continually voting for it. And it is a feasible path as long as tech and tourism underwrite it

All that said... Still have a "shouldn't" stance. Raising min wage is a ridiculous tool because it has so many ramifications but leftist can't seem to comprehend - consequences doesn't seem to be an actual word in left vocabulary.

You are right though... There are 49 other states to move to if you dont like it (in Cali).. But in a similar vein, there are thousands of industries. If you don't like the pay in the fast food industry, move to a skilled industry

Capitalism would be the business paying their employees wages, and if they could not survive doing so, they would go out of business. Not paying a portion of their employees compensation and relying on the government to pay the rest.

McDonald's has a program called McResources that encourages their employees to sign up for food stamps and other financial aid provided by taxpayers

I stopped eating fast food almost entirely a few months ago. It’s too unhealthy and way too expensive. I can grill chicken, which is much healthier, for way less.

Do an experiment go on the uber eats app find a Macdonalds in the shittiest part of the shittiest state where gas is cheap, the rent is cheap, utilities are cheap and employees make $7.25 compared the price of the Big Mac to the McDonalds in Times Square the difference is a dollar or 2 tops inspite of the fact that all the cost are less than half.
