How long did it take to start seeing results and what kind of practice route did you go with?

Your teacher should be giving you things to practice to help keep you on track and hold on to the things he taught. There’s no easy way to improve after just one lesson. But a few lessons plus practice between, and you should start to feel comfortable/confident in the changes. Once you trust where it’s going, you’ll see it translate to the course.

A series of lessons is the way to go. And where it started to help me is when I got lessons using video incorporated with Trackman. The instructor could text or email me short video clips to look at and go by. Seeing what you are doing and being able to compare to what the swing is supposed to look like is what will really help.

It depends on where your skill level is to start with before the lesson, and the quality of the instructor.

If you are learning the game, it is gonna take some time.

Ive had lessons where my instructor could instantly fix the problem within 5 practice swings. But then you have to continue to practice to develop new muscle memory to eliminate the mistake.

My advice is to investigate what style a certain teacher teaches and if the fits your thoughts, plan and more importantly your body type.

I took some lessons here in the Sugarland area from what was supposed to be a highly regarded teacher and he messed me up for two years.

A barrel chested guy needs a different plan than a flatbelly.

I enjoyed getting lessons a few years back when I did them. The problem was, I had no real time to go practice that stuff on a driving range.

Got a lesson from a dude at the National in Westlake... Went out the next day and shot an 81 at Koasati Pines. One of my best scores ever, and felt like I was hitting it dead straight.

If
Your teacher is any good you should see a big change that day.
I teach at cog hill in Chicago and I typically see slicers leave hitting draws. It took 20 years to learn to teach like that though

Immediately. I went from having a huge slice, then a hook, then a draw. What had killed me since I've started playing was gone in about 20 minutes with 2 very small corrections. The only difference i made in practice was going through a quick pre-shot routine before every shot to focus on the same 2 keys that were shown to me at the lesson. I don't think I've ever kept score through an entire round the past 10 years, but I'd be comfortable saying i had never broken 100. Took 3 or 4 lessons and within a month or two consistently shooting mid 80's. It's crazy how much effort most of us will put into a bad golf swing.
