Do you not teach your kids that every man needs to carry a knife?

My kid has one of these....

But the answer to the op's question is schools don't let kids carry knives to school anymore so it's a lost art.

Benchmade shoot out automatic edc. Got a few other benchmades, several case knives. My favorite hunting knife is still my fixed blade case with stacked leather handle.

Unless I’m working in the yard, I just don’t use it enough to justify carrying it around. Will you invent “needs” for it if you carry it 24/7? Sure. When you’ve got a hammer, all the world’s a nail. But actual need is very rare when you’re just moving through society.

bullshite. You should have one in your pocket unless you’re flying or working in an area that is heavily restricted.

I’ve got a couple para and a couple Griptilian. I had to get the griptillan with the spyderco opening.

Not at all. I myself always have a Kershaw on me, and anyone worth their salt doing construction has something similar on them as well.

I carry my Pops (deceased 2016) pocket knife and use it every day from opening boxes or any miscellaneous incident that requires a small blade.
Wife got tired of any extra unopened box that sat for more than 5 minutes, so I got her this small knife:

She actually loves it.

For guys with big hands the Buck 119 is a great design that’s cheap enough to use all the time. Seventy five bucks and it comes with a nice leather sheath.

You can bet your arse you'll need your knife the most the day you walk off and leave it sitting on your night stand.

I carry one (Bugout Carbon fiber), but don’t use it often really.

A lot of folks in the office carry one…..well, the sportsmen do.

I always carry one. I'm 46.

I know many men in the 20's and some teens who also carry. It's definitely not a lost art.

If you ever have to take a shite in public and don’t have access to your bidet, a Leatherman can be invaluable for getting those final pieces that toilet paper can’t. All of my Biden baws will know what I’m talking about.

I always have a tiny Victorinox Classic with me - no good in a gang fight or skinning a moose, but I use the scissors and screwdriver as much as the blade.

I’m the hero at Christmas for being able to open all the torture devices used to package toys nowadays.

Downsides: ridicule from the pocket-machete-carrying hands at work; it’s often lost in sofa cushions; and easy to forget & lose to TSA. But replaceable for $20 or so.

I've never once carried a pocket knife going about day to day activities. This must be an old boomer thing because there really is no point

I don’t carry a knife, but between Amazon packages, bags, and tags that need to be cut off of clothing, I have to go get a cutting tool everyday. There is absolutely a pragmatic point to having one on your person.
