Why??? They started WWI and lost. There's consequences for doing shite like that and they FAFO.
Then they did the unthinkable and followed that idiot Hitler into WWII and history repeated itself.
Just how stupid were the German people back then????
Trying to distill the two largest conflicts in world history to a couple of sentences

Your viewpoint is not as crazy as it might seem at first glance.
In 1914, the world was still deeply embracing many 19th century ideas and values. In the 19th century and before, armies of large nations did occasionally march through neutral countries to get to a battlefield in a third country. Example: Napoleon's 1805 army marching during the Austerlitz campaign.

Brainwashed.
Haven't seen the US democratic Party lately have you?

You also intuitively already know another very important but simple reason why France's Army performed poorly in 1940. The reason is as simple as this: training, doctrine and readiness.
Think of your time in US Army armored battalions. Your training was superb. You trained up to fit into an excellent doctrine of warfighting. To top it off, your armored battalions were always at a very high level of readiness, comparatively speaking (compared to France's armored units in 1940).
German battalions gained valuable combat experience in Poland. Their training and doctrine was already superior to France's military units, even before the war.
Training, Doctrine and Readiness are very important reasons why France's armies performed poorly in the operational realm in 1940. Not enough emphasis on this point is placed in our discussions of this campaign IMHO.

Germans were pissed off at the world . . . and he led them back to prosperity.
I guess that depends on how you define “them.”
Because he stole from and killed a lot of Germans.

I find Hitler's persona fascinating. How did he compel so many people to commit genocide.
The same way Americans and Europeans have been compelled to accept lie-after-lie from their trusted Statist Overlords Inc (while accepting repeated injections of NEVER-TESTED "safe & effective" experimental Franken-Jabs):
PROGRAMMING. GUILT. PRUSSIAN-EDUCATION SYSTEM OBEDIENCE (to even Psychopathic "Leaders")

Funny how "History" ignores the actual real culprits (The Brits).

The Russians wanted him just as bad as the Jews.
They were certain the remains found outside the bunker were his and Braun's.
Good enough for me.
I've read his secretary's book, along with plenty of other WWII history, and the likelihood of anything other than Hitler putting a bullet in his head is laughable.
His health alone would have made any escape difficult to impossible. He was a feeble shell of himself at that point.
All of this.
The suggestion that Hitler escaped to Argentina came directly from Stalin. Russian newspapers then pushed alleged sightings of him in other western nations. Even Eisenhower bought it briefly.
The Soviets knew he was dead, and chose to play political games by claiming otherwise.

This was a huge factor. Simply put, even though the French army was huge (outnumbering the Wehrmacht substantially) and well equipped (French tanks in general were superior to German tanks), their doctrine was all wrong. In essence, France had spent the years between 1918 and 1940 preparing to refight World War I all over again. The two main areas where they lagged behind was (1) air power and (2) combined arms maneuver warfare.

The Char B1 was a tough nut to crack for early war panzers. Do you have a model of the B1?

The devil is in the details and this is the wrong thread to go into the details, but, yes, it is essentially correct to say that France's military failed to implement an up-to-date Doctrine of operational warfare. They failed to adequately train their combat battalions up to the highest standard, even under the doctrine that they had in place.
Training, Doctrine, Readiness and Logistics are all key reasons why the US Army is still the best in the world today, and has been since the 1980s.
