which I pointed out. Milwaukee's turnout was not 89%, that's a state figure calculated by the numbers of voters divided by registered voters.
In your previous post you stated that Wisconsin had 72% turnout.

The 89% number is based on voters/registered voters
The 72% number is based on voters/voting age population
72% is the official voter turnout according to the state. It's how the majority, if not all, states calculate turnout. No matter how it's calculated, Wisconsin doesn't stand out in any meaningful way other than the fact that it is a high turnout state based on the past 20+ years.

quote:Many states, including Wisconsin, that allow same day voting registration, calculate the voter turnout by using the eligible voting age population. Since voters are registering on election day it is sometime well after the election before the state can accurately report the number of registered voters.
In your previous post you stated that Wisconsin had 72% turnout.
Also, by doing the calculaton using voting age elibleis voters is easier to compare turnout in sucessive elections because the method of calculation is constant.

many states, including Wisconsin, actually use metrics such as the voting-age population to calculate voter turnout, for a more representative estimate. By that measure, Wisconsin’s 2020 turnout was around 73%.
