The male protagonist was on a slave ship, it was attacked, he was the only survivor, was taken back to Japan, and learned the way of the Samurai ala Tom Cruise. The female character is Japanese.
I saw the leak and laughed so hard because I knew the gamers were going to lose their shite, ,predictably.
If the story is good, this should be great.

It wouldn't surprise me if Japan bans this game from even being released in that country. Won't matter either way as no one in Japan will be buying it.
I'll play it if it ever hits Game Pass. That's a huge change for me as I have purchased a physical copy of every mainline Assassin's Creed game.
The only black "samurai" in history wasn't a samurai at all and never fought in a battle. LINK
Regardless, playing as a black assassin in Japan makes no sense. He can't blend in. It doesn't fit Assassin's Creed.

Dude even you have to admit it’s odd to have the game set in Japan finally only to make the main character not Japanese
