Boxers, and their handlers have gotten to "cherry-picking" opponents for their fighters being afraid a loss will damage their future earning potential.

Also, the fighters in UFC are not doing their best to protect that coveted "0" in the loss column like so many boxers and their handlers are.

I think this exists in the ufc. Maybe not from the fighters themselves but I think Dana has a handful that he does this with

Can you give some examples? Not saying you are wrong but just interested in who you think is being protected.

I think a lot of people might say Bo nickal. I’d disagree the dude has like 4 pro fights in which very few went out the 1st round. He is very young in the sport and while he can probably beat a lot of top level guys imo he needs to fight and get more experience against lower to mid level guys and face some adversity before moving up to top 10 level fighters. Not to mention he is probably fighting near minimum pay and should fight against guys around that same level.

No, the two actual biggest names along with accomplishments are Usyk and Fury. Usyk handled big bad AJ easily twice and I thought had he pressed the action in the first fight in the 10th round he likely would have stopped AJ he had him hurt. AJ has a 'name' but he also lost conclusively to Usyk twice and dough boy Ruiz. Those losses matter.,

Name them.....

The only UFC fighter I know of who's undefeated is the now retired Khabib Nurmagomedev who went 29-0 before hanging them up.

Next closest is Jon Jones who is 29-1-1 and George St. Pierre at 26-2-0.

All the rest of the more familiar men's names have between 3-17 losses on their records. Hell, even the popular Brock Lesnar is only 6-3-0 in his MMA career and he was a cash cow for Dana White, just like Ronda Rousey on the women's side who went 12-2-0 suffering back to back stoppages to end her stay in the octagon.

Bo Nickal for sure. Main carding UFC 300 as something like a -1450 favorite. Jiri fought for a belt in fight 3, Alex in fight 4 and 7, Izzy in fight 6. Khamzat hasn’t gotten any favors either. They make Bo sound like he’s the greatest ever but he’s been fed more cans than Suga Sean.

You can’t compare nickal to any of those guys. Dude was a collegiate wrestler and has 6 total mma fights 3 in the ufc. Poatan and Izzy both had extensive professional kickboxing careers and were some of the best to ever do it. Prochaska had like 20+ mma fights, was a champ in another organization, and had fought quite a few high level fighters from the UFC and other organizations.

Look at khamzats mma career. He had like 12 fights before he fought a solid ufc veteran in meerschart.

Same for adesanya he had 12 fights before he fought solid veteran vittori in ufc. He also had like 80 kickboxing fights.

Then it sounds like maybe the UFC needs to pump the brakes on the Bo hype then eh? If he isn’t there yet let’s not pretend he is. None of those other fighters we mentioned are main carding the biggest UFc event in history after fight 4 even though they are much more proven. Kinda makes my point huh? The UFC is looking out for Bo let’s not pretend otherwise.

No clue who this Bo guy is but it sounds like the Todd Duffee hype from like 15 years ago? Remember that guy? Was supposed to be the next phenom/big thing he got savagely KOed by one of his tuneup type opponents and it was all downhill from there. Wonder what he is up to these days?

They are promoting him because they think he will be a star. He is fighting the types of guys he should be fighting at this point in his career.

They sort of slow rolled omalley and look how that worked out. It worked out very well for the UFC and Omalley. People complain about him but he is one of the more exciting fighters in the UFC at this point and has proven the naysayers completely wrong. I think they are doing similar with nickal. But what the ufc does is nowhere near what boxing does where a guy will have 20-30 fights before they start actually getting challenges.

Why do people say he’s exciting? Because he has rainbow colored hair and chest tats? Because he’s a kickboxer? There’s 100s of kickboxers in the UFC. O’Malley is so fake. Everything he does is a complete act and is for the camera

probably because 7 of his 11 wins in the ufc have been by knockout and if chito wasnt a complete animal it would have been another. he put a beatdown on chito. what more do you expect out of a 135er?

I still think O'Malley lost to Yan. But he is a hell of a fighter. Much respect after he beat the breaks off of Chito.

UFC has taken over the combat sport market in the States.

Not anymore it hasn’t. UFC has been dead since McGregor and Rousey got out of the game. On the other hand, the boxing heavyweight division has seen a massive resurgence.

Fury will annihilate Usyk.

Usyk 233 which is a career high but he did have jeans on previous high was 221 vs Joshua in rematch
