In the amp market

My Tube amp circuit board recently got fried. And it doesn’t pay for me to get it repaired. With doing some research on amps, I’m starting to look into the digital market. My wife always complained about my tube amp being too loud and with A toddler I Would only be able to play it at very low volumes.
Recently, I’ve been looking at more of a digital route so I can play it at a more convenience and could have many different amp profiles. Plus, I would like to get a base guitar in the future and that would serve as a bass amp.
Give me your thoughts and opinions on this route. I’ve been looking at the line 6 helix mostly but I know there are many other brands.

I bought a Presonus USB Interface and some monitors Presonus Studio Monitors.
You can plug into the audio interface with your guitar and play through the monitors or headphones. There are tons of companies that have guitar modeling software like Neural DSP Plugins. they sound great out of the box and you only need to buy a few of them for general riffing.
I have a Marshall half and a 5150 half and some amp modeling pedal boards. Hardly touch them anymore. Plus the interface comes with recording software to boot if you feel like going that route. Sure the Helix has a million cabs and heads but honestly, on the pedal boards I have I never really used more than 5% of the stuff once I found my couple of general tones I liked.
Edit: The Neural Plugins go on sale alot. They are a bit pricey when not on sale.

I'll second the Neural DSP plugins...fanfriggintastical and cover just about every genre you can think of, plus there's a free trial for each plugin to test drive before purchasing. If you don't need a rig for gigging, this is a great solution.

Just do it, Find out how it suits you

Haven’t done much research on plug ins. Correct me if I’m wrong, it’s just additional amp models you can purchase?
One problem I think I would have is that I do not really have a computer. I have a Mac air that’s about 8 years old that is pretty much outdated. I’m not sure if it could handle that kind of software

Well thats a bit of an issue. If you cant swing a computer, then look for a used amp modeling pedal that is basic. You'll be able to play through speakers or headphones and save up for the computer route in the mean time.

"Old" Roland Cube. Or a Spider.

I mean I have one, just don’t think it’s powerful enough. Tried plugging in my guitar straight into the computer when I got it and the latency was bad.

If you are going to act uppity to people giving you advice that you asked for, you will continue to be the person who doesn't have a computer or an amp and I feel sorry for the child you think is yours.

Helix is a nice product. Looking at modelers/profilers, people can get really territorial over the one they own and it can be hard getting an unbiased answer.
Note that with a lot of these devices, you really need a computer to program them. Almost all of the more feature-rich products will have software to help set up the patches and settings.
There are also devices that only give you amp tones at bedroom levels but are dead simple to use and emulate the actual amp (but no effects). These usually don't need a PC at all.
It really depends on what your needs are. You can get great sounds out of just about anything with where the technology is now.

Fender Mustang GTX?
This thread got out of hand quick price point wise for me.
What is thought of these amps?
I may be a gear simpleton but the one I noodle with at GC sounds pretty good?
Seems easy to download multiple settings and mess with them.

Just get an Fm9 and be done with it . I've had all but the Quad Cortex. The fractal stuff is just so dang good, plus you get updates almost weekly . Helix is really good as well. I currently have the hx stomp that I use occasionally too.

A little more behind my thought and where I’m at.
The tube amp head went out, so I have a 1x12 cab and a pedalboard with pedals (nothing high quality or above $120 bucks a pedal).
When starting to do some research on a replacement head, I could get a tubed head close around the price of these profiler boards. Plus the profilers could give me much more options in different amp tones. Played head rush, line 6 helix and pod go at guitar center a week or two ago and thought they were pretty interesting (considering guitar center blows and has no variety to try out anymore).
That where I’m currently at, I’m also a reverb junkie. So I’m always looking on there. I’m fine with going used guitar amps.

Can’t stand guitar center and their employees. Played with the pedals for about 30 minutes and the amount of times they tried to push the boss katana on people without giving any explanation was disgusting. Or when they were trying to talk to a kid and his dad into an electric drum set but had no knowledge about it

They kind of know me now at GC and don’t bother. They figured out I usually know more than they do. They’ll recommend a pedal or something and I’ll just ask if they are crazy, that thing is trash, then I’ll tell them to go check out something they had no idea about.
On the OP, why not just get a Helix LT or Quad Cortex and an FRFR cab to go with it. Then when you want a tube amp in the future (you know you will), you can still integrate the multi into that, just lose the amp/cab sims.
Shop around. There is a guy right now on Talkbass selling a Helix LT for $650. That is a stupid low price.

I feel ya. I've spent way too much money on reverb over there years. I love my tube amps and still have several, but modeling has gotten so dang good that you can get killer tones with any of the modelers out now. I love my Axe Fx 3, but also really liked my Kemper and Helix when I had them. Heck, I get great tones from my little Spark amp.
