Haven’t done much research on plug ins. Correct me if I’m wrong, it’s just additional amp models you can purchase?
One problem I think I would have is that I do not really have a computer. I have a Mac air that’s about 8 years old that is pretty much outdated. I’m not sure if it could handle that kind of software

Well thats a bit of an issue. If you cant swing a computer, then look for a used amp modeling pedal that is basic. You'll be able to play through speakers or headphones and save up for the computer route in the mean time.
