The loss to NC St is inexcusable but in 82 they lost to UNC and 84 Georgetown, those were better teams.

I took the question to be who was a great squad that under-achieved.

Phi Slamma Jamma made 3 Final Fours and 2 NC games, how is that “underachieving”.

That Randy Moss Hail Mary is approximately a quarter of an inch from being the most ridiculous thing Randy Moss ever did. Think about that. Dude blew past a prevent defender lined up 20 yards off of him.

Probably the furthest Brady ever threw a football. Another yard or two on it and Moss runs into the endzone untouched. He had to check up for it.

With multiple HOF players, they didn't win the big one. That's under-achieving.

The Atlanta Braves of the 90s-00s. 11 straight division titles, one world series win

Florida State baseball

2014-15 Kentucky Basketball (Harrison twins, KAT, Booker, etc.)

I don't know that I'll ever forgive Cal for that one. Longest single-season win streak in Men's CBB (75-76 Hoosiers only had to play 32 games to go undefeated) at 38-1.

Nebraska football throughout the 80s.

2-8- in major bowl games....favored in all....finished Top 5 pretty much every year... Never won the title....until the sellout 90s.

Given their extreme hype, the Miami Heat team with Lebron, Wade, and Bosh that lost to Nowitzki was an all-timer.

but they won 2 so it's probably not bad

You realize the teams they played also had Hall of famers right?

1982 they lost to UNC they had 2 hall of famers Worthy and Jordan plus Perkins who was a lottery pick. They were also in the Final (sans Jordan) the year before. Olajuwon wasn’t even a starter that year, he had only be playing basketball for 3-4 years at that point. At 18-19 he was no where near the “Hall of Famer” he became.

1984 Drexler was gone and they lost to Georgetown who also had a HOF C in Ewing. Only 1 team can win.

If you want to say they underachieved I 83 losing to NCSt fine, i don’t disagree but clearly not the only or even close to best team to not win that tournament

Eta the other flaw in looking back and saying they had 2 hall of famers is players aren’t always the same at every point in their career. Olajuwon was very raw at that time.

Ralph Sampson, who isn’t a HOFer but was the 3 time player of the year. Yet UVA only made 1 FF and lost in the semis, imo that’s more “underachieving”

This is a good video for anyone who questions Brady's arm strength. That was a damn howitzer.
