The Superdome isn't only used for "a billionaire place to play a game" though, the NFL games are a small fraction of the events that are held there every year. The Superdome also has side areas outside of the central stadium area that are used for various purposes. If the state had to pay an outside entity to rent those spaces for all of the meetings, shows, and events, they wouldn't be affordable, and I would prefer to still have a venue for those things.

LSED is a state organization, not a city organization. Through LSED, the state owns and runs the venues including the Superdome, not the city. A significant portion of the tax-based funding for the LSED and related venues comes from the hotel tax, not from local taxes.

It's not as simple as "make the rich person pay for it" like it may be in some other stadiums in some other cities.
