when the best thing going for a town is a paper mill that closed 20 (?) years ago, you know times are tough.

It’s Kenner and the areas of Metairie that abut it, for me.

Most of Baton Rouge.

The sprawl of Mandeville cookie cutter neighborhoods.

Everything on the eastern half of New Orleans.

what makes Bogalusa the worst?

Thug culture and white trash festered to the point that now its in control, mainly because old families have either died off or moved away. The new mayor also hasn’t helped the situation, it’s one thing to be young and talk a big a big game but so far he’s turned out to be exactly what people thought he would be. A young SJW politician that has answers for everything, yet nothing ever gets done except for a lot of talking.

This man knows what he speaks of...has the title, no contenders.

Once did an investigation up there and found a dead dog in the water treatment complex, a stolen vehicle parked across the "police" department and 3 brand new Harley-Davidson motorcycles just purchased by the "police" department with a total of 2 officers plus chief on the dept.

Corrupt, dirty, nasty, town.

Ferriday? Jerry Lee, Jimmy, and Mickey would beg the differ. All of them had the drive for success to prevent themselves from having to return there.
they all three had/have a little more than drive, Cletus.

OP must be afraid his hometown will be criticized, given that he has not identified where it is.

This type of thread is probably started and joined by individuals who have done no traveling anywhere but simply repeat what they've heard and accept it as gospel truth. Or, they may have driven through a place during a trip, spent about 15 minutes, there, getting gasoline, but are able to conclude irrefutably that the place stinks.

I believe it; the town looks like it's just falling in. Main Street and a beautiful 1920s HS building all just going to dirt. Folks who are still there aren't doing much to try to keep the lights on.

I always get a bit weirded out going through a lot of those towns south of I-20 and north of Alec, like I'm going through some sort of twilight zone.

I feel like this thread is a pretty common one, and this answer is always correct.
