The recipients of SS and Medicare are simply getting the money back they and their employers paid into the SS and Medicare accounts on their behalf.

And holy crap I just realized the “maximum taxable income” for SS has more than DOUBLED since I started my professional career in 2001. That’s insane. Just over $80k to nearly $170k.
I just don’t even look anymore. I pay myself a salary and bend over.
