Do You Agree(Lie) to Avoid Raining on Someone's Parade?

I was pondering this last night. I am a pretty agreeable person. If someone shows or tells me something that they are excited about, I usually give them affirmation regardless of if I actually think that it is interesting, exciting, or "good."
I am a bit of a music nerd across many genres. My girlfriend put on a band that she really likes last night, and I didn't think that it was bad or anything, just not my thing, and I wasn't that impressed in a music sense. She kept going on and on as we were listening about how and why she thought that they were so good. Instead of telling her how exactly how I really feel, I just kind of agreed with her that I also thought that they were really good.
Its no skin off my back to just agree with her, and I don't want to be a dick and break down why I disagree with something that she really enjoys. Its just music. But I was thinking about it last night, and I actually do this a good bit with friends, family, co-workers. Nothing of any real consequence. Its all pretty subjective. If I do feel strongly enough about something, or if its a question of ethics or morality, I will certainly speak up.
I don't really see the harm in it, but I am indeed lying. I am doing it as to not make that person feel bad, or question what they like. I try to not be a Debbie Downer.
Does that make me a liar?

Yes, but I'm only saying that because it feels like you want me to call you a liar.

Don’t yuck someone’s yum is a pretty easy rule to follow
Posted on 5/15/24 at 2:39 pm to Funky Tide 8
No. It’s just an opinion and there is no reason to squash someone else’s joy.

i pretend to not know what the Supreme Court is to avoid listening to someone rant about politics.
"huh? Gaza? is that one those pyramids,"

Hell Naw
For example, I didn't read your TLDR post and immediately downvoted you plus I think your thread subject is kinda beta...
See how that works? I feel great and dgaf how my comments affect you because I may or may not be an anti-social sociopath.
Have a great day!

I usually give some fence sitting answer like "they're really talented, just not the usual genre I listen to. Might have to throw it in the playlist though."

My friends and I argue constantly about anything and everything. Random people or folks at work? I just nod and say cool then go about my day. Some folks don't react to disagreement well. I don't want to argue all morning with a coworker about if the tracks they saw are from bigfoot or a lineman.

Yes keep my friends and family happy u til they say some some sly slick shite then hit em with the truth in a flippant manner

Not at all. It just makes you a decent human. I generally do the same thing.

Congratulations... you played yourself

I do it with old people all the time, I'm not going to waste time correcting someone on something if it doesn't really matter if they are right or wrong.
I probably should do the same with my wife.

I don’t think so, as long as you can continue doing it.
I had this girlfriend who loved the show, Friends. I’ve always hated it, but I told her “I’ve never seen it,” just to be somewhat agreeable, because we had other things in common.
On some weekdays, I would “suck it up,” and go over to her place to watch it together. One day, when we were more comfortable around each other, I couldn’t stand it any longer, and admitted to her how much I hated friends. It was as if I killed her dog.

yes...although I've been told I have a terrible poker face when I get shite gifts.
I was personally tested on mothers day. MIL, who is a North Louisiana whose cooking can best be described as warming things up, made gumbo. It was from a box, it was watery, it was warm. She asked me how I liked it as someone raised in south Louisiana... I said it was very good and thanked her for making it.... but she kept on asking...and asking...and wanting me to get more...and asking..and steering the convo to it, and the sausage she used, and the heat on it. I couldn't engage in any other conversation for very long without having to discuss the damn gumbo.
Held it together tho..felt good to yell that into the TD abyss tho
