They broke a law, they made a mistake.
Pay a fine, face extradition, etc.
This will be a money-grab by a tourist country, and I personally would never go there, much like I'll never go to Jamaica again.

well Jamaica sucks, Provo isn’t that bad, word on the street is this is a relatively frequent violation by US tourists and the last few got off with wrist slaps due pressure from the US and they are putting their foot down on this one, I would be willing to bet this will be resolved without the dumbass serving the full sentence but will result in sterner warnings to passengers leaving the US
