And how much money do you donate to those boards yearly? Just trying to get a gauge.

Is being on non-profit boards really that common?

Just one. It is a shelter for young women who have been victims of trafficking. I don't donate money but use my couponing skills to get supplies that the shelter needs...shampoo, toothpaste, paper products, cleaning supplies, food, etc.

3 at the moment (2 professional, 1 community). Depends on the org but not a ton. probably $500 to the prof orgs each and ~$5k to the community one because it's one we really like.

The vast majority are non-paid positions. I've been on a dozen or more at different times (prof, museums, symphony, schools, etc.) and have never gotten a penny. If anything board members usually donate more, buy tables at charity events and give back way more than they get.

Currently on two. One is a Mardi Gras krewe so really no donation. The other is a non profit for the blind. Indicate $1k a year. My wife is on the BR ballet board. No clue what she donates.

Not on board. But, I lead a Special Olympics event yearly.

Special Olympics is a top notch non profit.

Very lean. Good stewards of donated money and resources.

One of the best, hands down. I did some volunteer work for them structuring a donation deal from an estate that was very specific in how the funds would be used.

They ask people to be on boards that have money or don’t mind asking people for money. That’s kinda the point

Mostly yes, but they bring in professionals to help with money, investments and legal that they don't expect anything from other than professional guidance.

I’ve been on Boards for the American Heart Association, Boy Scout Council, and a Credit Union. I ran the Heart Walk for the AHA, had to donate $1K to Boy Scouts, and the Credit Union just wanted my business acumen.
