Watch nerds question: Who is the most reputable online seller?

What you got? Is there one or more for whom I can be sure I’m not getting a “gray market” piece? Does that matter to you either way? Are there any of the easily identifiable ones for whom I should be wary of getting pure junk?
I’m generally looking new, but I would look at info on used as well.

Technically everything not sold directly from an authorized dealer is gray market. I simply view gray watches as mint used watches despite a lot of them having some form of warranty.
As for respectable dealers, it has a lot to do with the brand and price point you are shopping. Jomashop is great for a lot of stuff and DavidSW is great for a lot of stuff but I wouldn't buy a Patek from Joma and DavidSW rarely carries watches in the budget area. So what generally are you looking for?

Basically, this info.
I pretty much wanted to know if Jomashop would be okay for something less than Rolex, or if there was anywhere else that I should look.

I'm a '70s Seiko fanboy, and Seth at Hub City Vintage is the man.

My understanding with Joma is that you can’t get an original MFR warranty, if it’s a piece that would be under warranty. They only offer their Jomashop warranty, and it sounds like that can be a hassle sometimes.
This is all hearsay though, so take it for what it’s worth (and I could be completely wrong.)
Other than that, it’s a place you can buy with confidence as far as I can tell.

Which watch or watches are you looking for?

I buy all of my watches from this guy who sells them from the back of his van at the Wal Mart parking lot. I prefer to support local business.

I've purchased a Tissot from Jomashop before. Manufacturers warranty is non existent when purchased from them. I get my watches fixed at a local watch repair shop anyway though so doesn't bother me any. If I was going rolex, IWC, or above I would purchase from an authorized dealer unless purchasing used.

I've bought two watches from Jomashop with zero issues, they were both under 1k each though.

Jomashop isn't perfect because I have seen the occasional nightmare post about them but they are low risk in my opinion and I have bought maybe 20 watches from them over the years. I don't have a hard number but I am comfortable with them up to $2k without much thought. I would go higher if the discount was high enough. It is hard to judge someone else's comfort level at any given price point but you can have nightmare scenarios even buying new from an AD... been there done that. Issues are rare but do occur but Joma is the one major etailer I tend to point people to.
