A couple of years ago I bought a 98 TJ just as a fun/hunting vehicle. I’ve always thought the duck thing was stupid and was proud that I haven’t ever walked to the jeep to see a stupid duck on it.
The other day I was at lunch and when I got back to the Jeep I saw the duck on my steering wheel. I just kinda grinned and when I looked up to the restaurant I saw this special needs girl (saw her earlier in the restaurant) staring at me and grinning ear to ear. Parked next to me was a newer jeep with probably 20 ducks on the dash, so I’m certain that was her mother’s.
I thought it was sweet, so I put it on my dash like I’m sure she wanted me to do. When I got home I gave it to my kids to play with.
But it changed my outlook on the stupid duck thing just seeing her light up at my reaction and putting in on my dash.

It's fun watching people sneak around and duck someone or seeing them stick a Koozie under a wiper blade. I don't do it because I'm not in our Jeep much. We got ducked the other day.
Never knew about the Jeep wave or ducking someone until we bought ours.

My initial reaction was "oh, another duck and jeep story" but this was a good story and worth the read.

I never get a duck. My 45 has no top so someone could just toss a duck on the floor (can't put it under the wipers as they are hand powered and don't flex outward.

A good friend of my was killed when he was driving his Jeep and one of the 40 ducks he had slid off the dash and wedged itself under the brake pedal. Just be wary of wayward ducks.*

It’s crazy how obsessed people are with the most unreliable vehicles on the planet.

Agree. Nothing worse than a female proclaiming herself a “Jeep Girl”. Just trashy.

Theres no way you haven’t been ducked once in a couple years of owning the vehicle.

I had a '80 CJ7 in college. Also had a '72 Bronco. I very rarely took the top off the Bronco. Just too damn much work messing with it. The Jeep on the other hand I literally never had anything on it other than a bimini when it looked like it might rain. I actually had people make fun of me cause I would be riding around with no top in Winter. I kinda figured that was why you owned a Jeep. Now, I never see anybody with the top off their Jeeps. Seems kinda pointless. I mean why don't you just buy a 4-Runner?
