PT poll: Should convicted violent felons get their gun rights back after release?

We have several posters here that believe that convicted violent felons should have their 2nd Amendment rights restored after serving their sentences.
I do not. I’m fine with most non-violent felons getting their rights back after release, but not for violent criminals and especially those convicted of gun crimes. They forfeited their rights when they illegally shot someone.
What say you?
Upvote for not giving them gun rights.
Downvote for giving them them their rights back.

only after all penalties and costs of retribution to their victims have been paid.

Sounds like they are working up to give them a voting right after release. (Just so democratic politicians are able to be re-elected).
These are the same demoncrats that want to abolish the 2nd amendment, correct?

First, gun crimes doesn’t always equal violent crimes.
Second, rights are inalienable, and once someone has served their time and punishment, ALL rights should be restored. What other rights are you okay with taking away once someone’s sentence is done?
Lastly, “I prefer liberty with danger than peace with slavery”-Rousseau. The freedom of our society trumps your right to take away others rights to make you feel secure.
Bet you consider yourself a small govt conservative huh?

Dem judge=no chance
There is a reason they are inalienable rights. So a guy having a bad day can't take them away from you.

Most people in the category don't care about what they are allowed to have/not have. They are going to arm themselves anyway

Not this.

Depends on what type of felony we are talking about. A previous conviction for murder or rape is much different than a conviction for embezzlement or bank fraud.

Violent felons? No way.
There is probably some categories of non violent felons where they could get the right to own guns back.

Legality isnt stopping a criminal.
Self defense is one of our most basic rights.

You either believe the debt is paid or you don't.

If they are released from prison and parole, they must have the rights of any citizen.
Otherwise, it is cruel and unusual punishment.

States should be able to take away your constitutional rights?

Felons: yes
Violent felons: no, at least not for 10 years with no other incidents.

No to all felons. Just don’t do it.

There’s obviously some violent felons who do not want to go back to prison for carrying a firearm, and that’s a good thing. I applaud them. But there are many that aren’t afraid of going back to prison and illegally own and carry firearms. I mean damn, how many stories do we have to read about violent felons committing gun violence after being released from prison?
Can you imagine someone you love being killed by a released violent felon legally carrying a gun?
Why are you arguing to make it easier for them to kill and maim others. It’s fricking insanity. They cannot be trusted!
