Trying to get caught up on this Stormy Trump thing and have some questions.

Maybe i am mistaken but i read they are claiming he mislabeled them on his Financial Statements, not his tax return. GAAP would only require them to be broken out on the face of the FS if they are material to the FS and they would need to be disclosed with a footnote. But calling them legal fees is certainly within GAAP. For a billionaire's FS, 150k is certainly immaterial. I audit companies with 10s of millions in revenue and 150k is well below materiality.

Don't be so sure. Unless things have changed, Redditors are free to make interesting sounding but demonstrably false assertions as long as they are Socialist/Marxist supportive. Whereas fact-based counters to those statements get you banned. So what sounds "smart" is often pixie dust and fairy tale.

The fact you are an accountant with the handle “barstools” immediately reminded me that George Went’s character on Cheers, Norm Peterson, was an accountant.

But yeah, $150k is insignificant to Trump who has spent his entire life wealthy. Even back when the Gold Standard was still in place young Donald was a millionaire from a wealthy family. $150k barely garners a conversational mention from a Trump. I can’t even keep track of how many times Trump has spontaneously paid off mortgages for people since being elected (he did that before too just didn’t always hear from the press about it).
