Watched this today and I have to say, you guys let me down on this one. I was really pumped about watching it due to the praise that a lot of people on here have given it. I watched it on blu-ray and visually, it blew me away, but the plot was just all over the place and I didn't care about any of the characters. The visuals are really what kept me from stopping it halfway through.

You must not have listened to my opinion of the movie then... because it was basically the same as yours.
A better looking Pans Labyrinth is what it was hyped as.
And yeah it looked good. But when that is all you focus on, the story takes a hit. The fantasy portion of the story was almost laughable. The intereaction between the girl and the man in real life was by far the more appealing story. I was actually mad when they would cut to fantasy.
It was decent, and is worth a watch. Just nothing spectacular.

Aside from being fantastic to look at, it was a solid movie on its own. The little girl was adorable and I found myself liking the auxiliary characters in the tale itself. I mean it wasn't Chinatown or anything, but fantastic visuals alone can't hold my attention...

You realize that the fantasy part is supposed to be what the little girl is imagining right?

REALLY?!

How was the plot all over the place?

The stuntman and girl are in the same hospital. The stuntman suffers from depression. He and the girl form a friendship, and he tells her fantasies to make them forget about their current situation.

The fantasies take place in exotic locales with exotic characters.

Great movie. And the fact that it received an R rating is frickING ludicrous.
