Jack is the best candidate. gets more from the WORST NFL franchise, great leadership and charisma, and is a denfensive guro. Big name, big recruiter, big winner at LSU instaed of having the least talent in the NFL with the Jags. Great Hire !!!!

Seems like the same old retreads get brought up when the possibility of hiring a new football coach at LSU comes up. Saban was not on the radar of anyone when Emmert hired him. Thank goodness internet chatter and online candidate momentum determines an ADs short list.

the other good thing about Jack is that he LOVES to run the ball. Which is what LSU needs to keep doing. It took Les/Crowton a few years to figure this out b/c LA just doesn't produce big time qb's. He would keep the ship afloat.

what the the hell has del rio ever done to make so many fans want him
I believe, he had a daughter attend LSU or maybe was spotted in an LSU cap and sweat shirt. That immediately qualifies him as the next SEC coaching guru who will run circles around Saban and Petrino.

The NFL is diffrent from NCAA. If a coach is under contract, no institution can approach that coach without permission of the team or they can be sued for "tortious interference of a contract" and this has happened. Del Rio just re-upped and with no CBA in the NFL, his owner will not let him go....so, Del Rio is out.

We must be the only school that can't shut up about Jack Del Rio.
He sleeps with a girl from Louisiana and all of a sudden he's the savior. We are not all that bright around here.

He's a mediocre pro coach with no college experience who has only had 3 winning seasons in 8 years. Why does everyone suddenly think he would do a good job here? The track record of pro coaches with no college experience is pretty bad, as is Del Rio's.
And, if he is the god this board makes him out to be, he'll go back to NFL money before long.

Petrino is doing a good job at arkansas..
saban is doing a good job at bama....
pete carroll done a good job at usc....
i just dont understand why some of you think that an nfl coach just wont cut it at the college level..
if a coach can deal with cocky, arrogant, overpaid grow men..why cant that same coach deal with broke arse 18-19 yr old kids....
and it seems like some of you forgot that saban and miles were both average coaches prior to coming to baton rouge.....i never hear anyone talking about that...

I am not sure, just thought it was funny that the guy behind the counter told Jack that he needed a Wide Out, not a cup of coffee!
