just know what youre getting into is all im saying, ETH is not sound money, it doesnt have a supply cap, and the existing supply cant be properly audited. the vast majority of the supply was issued out of thin air
as for now, its an unproven experiment based on promises that the use cases for thousands of tokens will eventually emerge
will you make money in the short term, yeah. in five years time, you could even make A LOT of money from it, but it could also be totally broken by then.
i dont think its one of those things you can just set and wake up in 10-20 years from now and be confident it will still be there

So why are you even in this thread?

It’s going to fail or succeed within a couple years. They are either going to pull off the upgrade to ETH2 or it’s going to implode. You won’t have to wait much longer to get the result

First you shite on silver, now you shite on crypto. Be gone witch!

quote:Since you are talking a very long term outlook, I would not consider putting a dollar in anything outside of BTC, ETH, and LINK. 95% of all coins in existence today will be worthless 5+ years from now. I'd split up my money like this:
I am new here and looking to take the federal stimulus I just received and set up an account for the kids future... college, marriage, whatever.
70% BTC
20% ETH
10% LINK
If you want to day trade or weekly trade coins, then sure, go gamble with those alt coins. Otherwise, if this is a buy and hold type of approach, DO NOT look at alts.

I think you could have some high potential coinbase alts like aave, nu, and grt

Go with what we know and the best likelihood of still being here. If the coin still exists in 5+ years, the money will probably be 50x what it is today.

Yea and I agree with the three listed here, only others I would consider is Ada, and polkadot. Mainly because you will make a lot short term over next 3 years and because if eth2.0 fails, you are hedged somewhat.

Ok I want serious opinions on UNFI, that crypto survivors group(different person than the girl who does the graph analysis) just posted a big article on why they believe you will see 20-100x this year on it.

if you are just flipping ETH to make money weekly, anything below 1275 is buy range and sub 1200 is a huge buy range. You can easily make 400-600 a week with one eth token, buying at the 1250 range and selling in the 1400-1450 range. This past week, for example, this has happened 3 times and we are on the down slide again.
It’s almost time to sell ETH again.

So someone withdrew half a billion from Coinbase today

I just placed my first ever limit order on ETH to sell all my ETH if it reaches $1400.
If this executes properly, then I’ll set a limit buy at $1300

Anyone get into Geminis early access for Earn?
Looks like you may have to lock it up for two years, I’m not sure yet. I only have four kinds of crypto that it’s supporting
ETA: nope, no lock up required

I did a brief look around as so what people were saying about Earn and consensus was their terms were risky. The crypto will leave Gemini and there is no guarantee of return of your principal if shite hit the fan. I’m sure it’s unlikely anything happens but will hold off on putting anything substantial in it.

Mike Novogratz: Five Crypto Assets Could Replace JP Morgan and the New York Stock Exchange
quote:
“So Bitcoin, it’s probably on a risk-adjusted basis the safer, but it’s moved a lot. Ethereum has moved a lot this year but I think Ether has a long way to go so that’s a good investment. And then there is this whole group called DeFi, or decentralized finance. So tokens like Aave (AAVE), or Chainlink (LINK), or Compound (COMP), yearn.finance (YFI), Uniswap (UNI) – those five – there’s a chance that those five blow up the world, not in the next week or the next month but in the next five years. Those are the tokens that want to take the banks and tear the banks limb from limb, that want to replace JP Morgan and the New York Stock Exchange and so I put some money into those things. It’s much riskier, but if it works, it’s going to be a much bigger payoff.”
