Watching it with my son right now and its better than anything currently available in the genre by leaps and bounds. It's way more mature than what I remember as a kid, and not in a provocative way like stuff today; more so in the sense it takes on real tragic stories.

My favorites as a kid were always “Almost Got I’m”

I agree that’s probably the best episode of the series... but I think it could have done one thing better and it was held back for 2 reasons:

1) It’s a children’s show and this would be way too dark of an ending.
2) It’d kill of a major character.

Have Joker end with his story like in the show, and then toss the bag of “cat food” towards the disguised Batman with Joker revealing he knew it was Batman the whole time and that he actually got im. Those of you who have seen the episode would know what I’m talking about. Granted Joker basically did this in “Return of the Joker”, so in the end Joker did get Batman to his absolute core.

As for my Top 10 Episodes:

1) Almost Got Im
2) Heart of Ice
3) The Man Who Killed Batman
4) Perchance to Dream
5) Mad Love
6) Beware of the Grey Ghost
7) Baby-Doll
8) The Laughing Fish
9) Harlequinade
10) Growing Pains

And for anyone curious how Joker got Batman in the end: Return of the Joker

Own them all on DVD (yeah yeah I’m a huge loser that still buys physical) and may pick up the Blu-ray set as a back up.

TAS for me has replaced The Simpsons and King of the Hill as my “keep on in the background” show. The whole atmosphere created is just...comforting in a weird way. It is the definitive Batman for me, the pinnacle across all media with maybe the exception of The Dark Knight. The biggest reason is that they nail the troubled Bruce Wayne character. I enjoy the movie Mask of the Phantasm as well.

I’ll also say, I missed Batman Beyond on its initial run because I had aged out by then. Went back and watched it as an adult and was pissed that I had ignored it for so long. I own that series on DVD too and watch it once or twice a year all the way through.

I never watched all of Justice League, the lineage is kinda hard to follow with all the shows splintering off (e.g. Adventures of Batman and Robin, the Brave and the Bold etc.) but I want to get around to it at some point.

I hate to bump. but I just got to Beware the Gray Ghost. Adam West as the voice of the Ghost, can't get acting work anymore with casting directors only seeing him for Batman. Thats deep.

It's hard for Adam West to get acting work since he died a few years ago.

He means when he was alive. Adam West was so synonymous with the campy Batman role that it killed his career. Which lead to him doing the ridiculous playing himself stuff later on and eventually Seth McFarlane making sure he had a paycheck for all the good memories as a kiddo. The TV show and the comics of the time weren't even in the same wheelhouse as this was when DC was starting to step back at Marvel and was already revamping titles back to their grittier story types and people like Neal Adams were just then cutting their teeth before getting the full steam ahead by the end of the show's run.

Typecasting was no joke in the 60's. Ask Max Baer Jr. He couldn't get arrested during, or after the Beverly Hillbillies. Audiences laughed when George Reeves showed up on screen in From Here to Eternity. They ended up editing his part down.

Taking a unique role and having it become a huge success used to be a career killer.

Hell, people laughed at Bruce Willis when the first Die Hard trailer ran.

Now you can play a superhero and go on to get an Oscar level role.

But there is no Avatar or Clone Wars without Batman

BTAS is probably the GOAT animated series....BUT Clone Wars deserves a lot of its own credit.....it basically saved the prequels and made them watchable to decent 10 years after they were released.

The X Men animated show was better but Batman was clear cut number 2.

I'd put the 80s ninja turtles over the x men. It was good, top 10 animated shows from the 80s and 90s..but No way was it better than that batman series.

Ummm, just no. I liked X Men, but it doesn’t hold a candle to Batman. Look at the fights in those two series, and they’re not even debatably in the same hemisphere.

I never got into Ninja Turtles because of this series. I always remember being bored with the fights, like why don’t Raphael or Leonardo stab people? My friends were all freaks, but I just never went along with it. Was into Power Rangers though.

Avatar told a trilogy perfectly and only got better as time went on. I think it’s in the debate with Batman as the greatest animated series of all time, and I don’t think the Clone Wars is at that level in the debate as the best ever. Clone Wars is great, but it’s not in the debate for the greatest of all time.

Because they're not killers?

Those 2 tore arse all over the robotic foot clan.

Then why don’t they have Mikey’s and Donatello’s weapons?

Blunt objects can kill. If you were hit in the skull full power with legit Nunchaku it would be devastating. The sai is actually more of a defensive (and melee) weapon.

And you got to have swords if ninja, but they gave them to the most compassionate and responsible character.
