Who are your starters at DE? I would assume Maason holds down one spot since we saw that last night and he’s just too good to not have on the field. But what about the other? Ojulari is great on obvious passing downs but I’m not sure how well he’ll hold up against the run. Have Cherry or Fonua shown enough to get the nod?

To my surprise - Desmond Little has been doing very well

I remember watching his freshman year practice videos and was scratching my damn head wondering how he got a scholarship.

very raw in HS, but had good production. I think he was a BBall player who switched over his JR or SR year?

Maason Smith seems unblockable wherever they put him. We have some great DL but he seems like he is going to be something very special.

Maason feels like a throwback to the Saban era defensive ends. He looks like Marcus Spears or Marquise Hill out there. I like it. The 250 lbs. DEs that LSU is using in a four man front are not standing up to the run.

Is Landon Jackson injured? I haven’t heard his name mentioned and he was a highly recruited player out of high school.

I agree. In limited action, I think Little has looked good too.

You have to be kidding.

Maason Smith will probably be a DE in the NFL. I would like to see him at DE at LSU. Ojulari does fine against the run. Little has looked good, though he might be a year away from being an every down player.

When our DL screws up it happens on the ends when the DEs lose contain. That happened more frequently during the UCLA game, a little during the Cowboys game and I did not see it last night. Looks like the DEs are staying patient, maintaining leverage and because they have leverage when the RB or QB tries to bounce outside they are getting tackles for loss.

What's amazing is this is a basic DE technique taught from little league. Maybe very talented DEs forget about technique in high school and it does not matter if they crash down because they were always so talented they could recover. Now they are finally learning it's a team sport and you can't do everyone else's job in CFB when the competition is almost equal.

Savion Jones is going to be a beast. He can can fly. Not sure if he is ready, but when he is, he is going to be a stud. He has first round size and speed.

Pretty sure he’s still recovering from the ankle injury that ended his HS Sr year. I swear I saw him in on the punt team yesterday as one of the protectors.

Gaye had a pair of crutches on the sideline last night but was walking without using them. Guess that’s a good sign

The starters will be #0 and #8 next week if Gaye is out with Little and Cherry as the backups. Landon Jackson is still healing from his high school injury he won’t play this year and take a redshirt which was always the plan. Soni Fanua is academically ineligible right now I think. We may get to see some Savion Jones also. I hope Gaye is back because Maason is a beast wherever he plays but he’s the best matched up against the opponents’s center where he can just blow him backwards into the QB’s face. He’s going to be talked about like Glenn Dorsey before he leaves LSU. That is a grown arse man who happens to be only be 19. We are stacked at interior DL which is going to be critical against SEC teams because there’s no chance they will wear us out because we have so many guys we can rotate in.

There was a player wearing #11 on the sidelines last night with his left arm in a sling, but that's all I know. He seemed to be having a great time waving a white towel with his right arm while jumping up and down, though.

That was Josh White. He’s #10.
