I've been looking a little ..... still driving a 1995 Honda 300 4x4 and still running strong!

But the wife wants a SXS so I've been doing a bit of looking. I think the Honda Pioneer 1000-5 is the one I would buy if I was going to buy one today and could actually find one. CanAm Commander would probably be my second choice. She wants a sportier one but I want to be able to use it in the woods so it has to have some sort of cargo bed to be in my consideration. That's why the Pioneer is my top choice at the moment. Haven't looked very close at other brands yet but will before I buy.

I agree with you about the Kubota line. I have one with a cab (A/C is great in summer) and hydraulic dump bed. It's awesome for hard work on a farm, but would not be a great mud riding machine due to its weight.

Take a look at the RMAX 4 1000. The rear seats are much more comfortable. Similar machines. I looked at the 1000-5 i was worried about the interior heat.

It'll all come down to what you're going to do with it and how much you'll use it.
I hunt on a 10,000 acre lease that has some pretty rough trails. The majority of side x side's up until a couple years ago was Polaris Rangers. Now it's Pioneers because the rangers were always broken.
The same story played out on my father in law's lease in TX, they were mostly rangers but now everyone there has a pioneer.
I have a 2016 pioneer 700-4 that I bought in 2015. I've put that thing through hell & back and have had zero issues. I've had 5 men and 3 deer on it and it didn't miss a lick.

I have a 2020 Polaris XP1000 premium EPS. I have had electrical issues out the arse. It goes in limp mode frequently and 4x4 doesn’t always engage. I had a 2015 570 full size crew that was bullet proof. My next will be a Kawi Mule.

Just went through this.

I test drove the ranger, pioneer, mule. Did not test drive the can am. The price was too high for this boy. I just didn't care for the honda. No real reason, just didn't care for it.

In the end, I am awaiting shipment on my Mule Pro FX. The 3 year warranty sealed the deal for me between the ranger and mule. And the ranger had too many bells and whistles for what I need. The mule appears to be built like a workhorse, which is what I will be using it for. I don't need to go 90mph!!

this review is accurate from my experience as well. I've used most of them on the list with work or personal for reasonably extended periods with exception of can am. Although I've driven can am once, and from a performance perspective, it was a freakin beast, but I know nothing about its components. I have the pioneer 700 now. it works for me and I like it, but it's a fairly large machine for only having a 700 cc engine.

I've been debating selling my ranger 900 xp and buying another mule. I love my ranger, but I'm wanting a quad cab again

I have 2018 Polaris Ranger 500 and outside of regular maintenance I’ve only had to replace 1 upper control arm. Bike has been good to me and during hunting season it gets abused.

I bought a Honda pioneer 1000-5 off market place . I do not like it puts off way to much heat in the cab. Gets unbearable in the summer

Check and see if wolfsnout makes an insulation kit for it. I run them in my Rzr.

Huge difference

That's what I was referring to in an earlier post. The rear seats weren't to my satisfaction and I was worried about the internal temps. That's why I went with RMAX over 1000-5.
