Noah Chauvin a 15 yr old Freshman at AES in Youngsville shot -15 to win the State Championship in Div III on Tuesday at The Farm. The tournament was rained out on Monday, so they played 36 on Tuesday! He went 66-63 on Tuesday....the 63 included 9 birdies and no bogey's , That's a new state record for 36 holes. That's AES's 6th championship in a row! Impressive .

AES is basically a golf factory. They have grads currently on Georgia tech (kale Fontenot), LSU (jj Mendell), UL (Eli Ortego), and UNO (canon Clark) golf teams

With Ben blanco and Noah chauvin probably going major d1. Noah chauvin is probably the best of them all. Pretty impressive for a school that small

That 63 set the course record from those tees. I think I read they were playing golds.

They also had a kid (who I won't name) who had an opportunity to play D1 and declined.

Their #6 man is a Freshman who would be Top 4 at most school in State regardless of class!

Why did he decline? Going pro? Raking in the local money games?

Do these kids have the same golf instructor? If so, who?

He’d probably beat Charlie Woods 4 out of 5 times but many here don’t want to admit that.

Charlie Woods isn’t a golf phenom like his dad.

I'll admit it, and what's your point? Jack Nicklaus' son wasn't as good as his dad, doesn't mean they are bad golfers, just that their dad's were the 2 best that ever lived, kind of hard to live up to those expectations. Hell, while were at it, Michael Jordan's and Lebron's son's aren't phenomes like their dad's either, you want to go ahead and trash them too? It's not the kids fault, I'm sure they work hard to be the best that they can, it's society's fault for putting lofty expectations for them to live up to their dad's standard and that is an almost impossible goal to achieve.

For most of the hype I don't blame the kid. It's the idiot social media morons always trying to prop the kid up "future Masters champion". And many of the goofballs eat it up. I admit this thread wasn't really the spot for my response, but I had just read a response in the Zurich thread saying "Tiger should have played with Charlie."

Charlie doesn't belong with the pros, and I do fault him, and Tiger for allowing him, for attempting to qualify for the US Open. He's no where near that level at this time.

Any golfer with a hanidcap index of 1.4 can enter a US Open qualifying tournament. If I was that good, I'd try too. Charlie tried to pre- qualify for the Cognizant Classic which was an actual PGA event close to where they live in Florida, now that was a stretch but I would absolutely try and qualify for the US Open. There a plenty of amateur golfers who try and actually make the field. There aren't many amateurs that qualify for PGA tournaments.

Kid has been well coached since he started player. I know his dad, and he's a decent golfer. Has had his son coached well. Kid has been good for a while. I had no idea he was this good though.

Already has an offer from LSU. Top ajga player in the state. He has the most potential of anyone to ever come out of Lafayette area
