This kid jumps off the screen with his athleticism for his size. He has a motor and can bend as a pass rusher. Seems like the type of guys Baker wants in his 1 gap scheme. Anyone know if LSU has reached out?

They pretty much have to reach out or try to get back in it with CJ West

There's multiple undersized DTs left in the portal we are probably reaching out to.

Huntington is 1 of them
Terrell Allen from Tennessee St is another - extremely productive player
Thomas Gore from Miami (formerly GaSt) could be another - productive player at GaSt, fell off at miami last season

Those 3 guys are all in that 6 foot 280-ish range.

CJ West sounds like they tried to get in a visit previously but he declined, has a Top 5 without us in it.

There's also Johnny Bowens from Oregon who didnt play last season really as a freshman but was a 4-star in 2023 class and has some decent size to work with at 6'3 290 (last season)

Has there been any news on Bowens at all? Kinda strange that I haven't heard a word on this kid since entering, and he's a 4* with 4 years of eligibility left. Would've thought a lot of schools would be coming after him.

At this point we shouldn’t just take someone to add numbers. We have the numbers, we need a 1 year instant starter. Huntington could be a bust after jumping up in competition that we are then stuck with for two years. Like are we positive he is an upgrade over a guy like Lee?

Adding* : It would be so nice if McKinley comes in able to make some sort of immediate impact. Would handle a lot of issues.

There's been zero news of other DTs after we lost out on Williams and Barrow last week. Doesnt mean something isnt going on, just means there hasnt been any leads on new ones publicly know right now.

We have 4 scholarships to give, there's no reason to not add 1 or 2 more DT.

Of the 8 scholarship DT we have, 4 of them are true freshmen or Kimo moving from OL to DL. You cant really count on those guys this year. A 5th guy is Shone Washington coming from JUCO as well.

We absolutely need to at least 1 if not 2 more DTs. There's guys out there like Huntington, Terrell Allen and Thomas Gore who have plenty of experience, have played well at least in the past and no reason to not go after them. Especially with the playing time experience they would at least bring in.

The freshman from Oregon last year wouldnt be a bad add too as a 4-star with 4 years remaining.

Again, we have the spots and any of those guys could turn into rotational guys easily.

What's the likelihood that Reliford adds muscle/weight to grow quickly into a DT? There's been nothing on that potential progress since he arrived in January. I thought that I recalled him showing up strong at Spring practice.

I don't mean around us, I mean in general.

I haven't seen a single mention of Bowens across any media. I would've thought we'd at least hear about him taking visits.

From my understanding he makes specific mention he is a d end not a DT and he did well at DE in the spring so no reason to change off of that.

This is very true. Also could maybe take a chance on a riskier 1 year guy with that room to work with. Didn’t realize we still had that many spots.

I agree, and it might not be a bad idea to go after an experienced RB, if Holly cannot return and we get another injury at RB then we are down to two inexperienced backs other than JW. Get 1 RB and 2 DL.

You aren’t stuck with any player you don’t want in the current timeline.

Transfer portal is a bitch, but the road travels both directions.

Can Auburn frick off? They’re not just a DT away from possibly winning a natty like we are they can afford to let us get a guy at that position.

Golly, FSU really messed up picking up Jared Verse and Braden Fiske from Albany and Western Michigan. Their Dline was horrible last year... Right?
