What was the deal made with the LHSAA that allowed them to keep there state championship? Heard that a state senater and rep. was putting alot of pressure on the LHSAA to give them the championship back. Why is this such a big secret? Was something else done illegal or unethical by someone or the LHSAA? Now what will be done to Newman and Randy Livingston? He must have some real money behind besides what Newman has. Nike must be giving him a good sum for all of his travel teams. That guy has all the big time kids except for the Freshman at Ruston, he is with John Lucas. For an organization that is always into something the LHSAA sure isn't very transparent. If the would put the truth out there for everyone to see all the rumors and gossip would cease.

The Opelousas thing from what I understand the school did nothing wrong. Schools don’t have the resources / manpower to go to every kids house and check where they live or with whom they are living with. They pretty much have to accept that the paperwork turned in is correct and truthfull. Now when the school KNOWS it’s not that’s a different ball game.

The other case is far from over.

Idk what they’ll do now that the whole state knows you can break whatever rules and whine in court if you get any consequences

This is my understanding of the case.

LHSAA cleared the person in question for Opelousas before the season. The school or coach decided to take the LHSAA to court after the "final ruling" because they followed all the rules and procedures as required and were given the green light on the player before the season.

That's all I got.

Advocate article - Opelousas High football has been reinstated as state champions. Here's why.

I'm not sure if Randy is guilty or not but anybody that has watched Newman play under his direction can see how bad of a coach he is.

If the pre-clearance was based on inaccurate info, I don't know how it is valid.

You are of course entitled to your opinion but they lost like 10 games this year and they had

6'10 4 star
6'8 3 star
6'7 D1 commit
PG with offer to Mich State, LSU, ect

And with a loss to a team like STA. I watched 4 or 5 of their games this year. They weren't in the stratosphere of a well coached team. Extremely talented though.

I don't think it was, but that is based on things the coach has said so I do not know for sure.

Maybe RL was trying to throw the LHSAA off their scent by dropping a few games

I just don't understand. Who cares if a kid and his parents let him go live somewhere else or drive 30 miles everyday, to go to school and play sports there.
Boggles my mind that grown arse adults worry about where a child wants yo play sports
Why do we care?

Seriously, if a kid from Baton Rouge wants to go live w his aunt and play in Lafayette, why is that bad? If parents sign off, whi the frick are we to stop it?

Ignorance has never been a defense.

Now, every school in the state will claim "lack of resources" whenever they get busted cheating like this.

It's not the same, but when I was a kid, our rec football team was disqualified when it was determined that a kid played with an altered birth certificate. It was accepted at the time of registration. Later on, someone complained, an investigation was done, and it was determined to have been altered.

The problem is the principals really run things and the principals can be placed into three groups.

1) Those who will lie, cheat, and steal in order to win

2) Those who could care less about sports and have absolutely no involvement

3) Those who believe in giving everyone 16 and 17 chances to "do the right thing"

None of those groups are conducive to running an athletics organization in a world where high school coaches are hired and fired based on their success or lack thereof.

If principals handle their business, more than likely it would not happen.
