Was there, but the first, and second time, I saw them was in 1975 in Baton Rouge when they performed twice in one day to kick off their Tour of the Americas. The Meters opened for them. Hell of a couple of shows.

one of the most memorable experiences of my lifetime, and the source material for one of my favorite epic stories to tell - and the show, while great, was the least interesting part of it

Years ago when the Steel Wheels tour hit Birmingham, My Boss gave me free tickets, because his wife wasn't interested in going.
My 1st wife loved them, but she was due with our daughter.
We went anyway.
Sure enough, she went into labor and we had to hot foot it back to Huntsville.

Honest review.
Fun. Really cool to see a vanguard act in a “matinee” as Mick called it.
Musically. Mick sometimes doesn’t know when he is supposed to sing but the vocals play. Band wise it’s fine.
His jab at Landry it just sucked a lot of air out of the room. Yes Mick the reason Louisiana is dead last in almost every metric is because it elected a republican 5 months ago. Shame we did that or we are the next Florida.
All in all, you didn’t miss anything but was cool.

I thought it was an epic concert and I’ve seen plenty in my 65 years.
Bringing up Irma Thomas to sing her “Time is in on my Side ” with Mick was legendary. Mick explained how they heard this song coming over the radio back in England and loved it so much they recorded it and it became their first hit in the United States.
“Gimme Shelter” gave me goosebumps with the use of the accompanying female vocalist from New Orleans.
You can find an excellent video of this performance posted on YouTube.
Mick still has amazing energy for an 80 year old.
Sure it’s not The Rolling Stones of the 60s or 70s but as a twenty year old kid who came in from Mexico City said.
“The Rolling Stones are the best rock and roll band still going“
I do agree that musicians should keep their political thoughts out of these forums. We come to enjoy their music, not their thoughts on politics
Glad I was able to catch the performance. It’s right up there for me with seeing Paul McCartney, The Who and The Beach Boys.
