Heaner should have played the last half of the season.

Bo Nix was just a Rattler (arguably worse) before transferring to a great system in a soft conference. Difference of 138 picks? We’ve seen a lot of QBs transfer and really elevate their game and draft stock. USCe wasn’t the spot but we can hope a transfer to kubiak is the transfer move to elevate rattler

ETA we gave up a 7 to swap 4ths to get Haener. The guy may suck but the pick is nothing of consequence

The retard was suspended for half the season for PEDs. We should have cut him before thinking about playing him.

Carr was coming into his own 2nd half of season after finally getting a bit healthier.

As an OU fan, I admit I'm skeptical of the Rattler pick. I didn't really follow his performance at SC, but I hope he proves me wrong and does great things.

I think it more reflects a the change in offensive philosophy for the first time in 18 years. The Saints were constantly chasing the next Drew Brees. Smaller guy with somewhat questionable arm strength who was a better "touch" guy that great thower.

Do you follow the Shanahan system?

They've had success with mediocre-armed guys like Jimmy G and Purdy

Haener's profile seems perfect for that system

I believe we gave up this year's 4th, too

Yea we swapped a 2025 4th for a 2024 4th with the 7th rd kicker

Your point still resonates, I’d have to look as to what happened to the 2024 4th originally. But I don’t think the cost of this one was anything to be mad about, other than using it to take Haener

We will forever be looking for the next Drew Brees by drafting people who only have one thing in common with Drew Brees- a lack of height.

Jags took Jordan Jefferson. Pretty weak crop around that pick tbh

Schefter just said on McAfee that teams told him Rattler was going to go in the mid 2nd - early 3rd rd. Said once all the QBs went early, the need for QBs for a lot of teams was gone

Yeah I mean the dude is a project but he’s got A LOT of tools that can make him very successful in this league if Kubiak and maybe the next OC minded HC of the Saints can mold him.

He has such a wide range of outcomes. I can easily see him being the Saints starter for the next 10 years where he’s a top 10-12 guy. I can also just as easily see him flame out of the league in 3 or 4 years

Bo Nix was horrible early in his college career and got beat out by bums at Auburn

Rattler struggled a bit early on, but was beat out by Caleb Williams

Bo Nix landed in Oregon (a top tier pac 12 team), with a qb friendly spread system in which 36% of his passes were behind the line of scrimmage.

Spencer Rattler landed in South Carolina (a bottom 5 sec school), and he still managed to improve and acquit himself much better than Bo Nix did while he was at a premium SEC school.

I feel this is a 2 edge sword. If somehow Rattler comes in next season because Carr is injured or just sucks and does well- does this save DA? For instance imagine a world where Rattler becomes Purdy like- are we stuck with DA for the next ten years???

Bo nix is probably the most accurate qb in the draft. He is going to do well in Payton system

His average pass range was like 4.5 yards.

Carr was playing lights out when he healed. I'm not even sold on him either.

Every player is on them. You simply have to be a retard to piss hot.

Not to mention the difference in defenses he was playing and he had a horrible oline. Much worse than Nix.

Not really. Haener was Senior Bowl MVP too. Now, the Back street Boy Hair, The Glamour shots, and the PED suspension does detract from him, but he is still in the rotation. Give him a chance. He studied with Gruden on his own time.

Exactly. Way way to early to write Haener off. I still think it was a solid pick where he was chosen. Worth the gamble for a 4th rounder.

Rattler just dropped because so many qb needy teams reached for qb early in the first.
