I hear that

I'd love to outlast my wife on this but she and I both know that rarely happens...

Oh she had a trip to see family the 2nd week after and I randomly popped in the spca when driving by.

Had the dog picked and ready to go but had to wait for her to get back so it was 3 weeks. I’m a pushover for a good dog.

Losing a dog is so tough that you can't explain it to people who've never owned one. Dogs >>>>>>>> Humans and it ain't close.

I had to put my dachshund to sleep in 2009 (fluid around heart) and it took me until June 2023 to decide to get another dog. I was legit depressed for two weeks and didn't want to talk to anyone. Never would've thought it would be that hard to overcome.

That’s why I looked into his eyes the whole time. He was in pain but never welped or cried. Poor little fella was just scared cause he didn’t realize what was going on.

Same i have had two take their last breath with me holding them. Cried like a baby both times. Its hard to say goodbye to something that gave you nothing but love especially in this day and age.

My girl needed a full second dose of the first med that knocks them down. She would just pant and groggily stare at me, the she'd put her head down, I'd say something or move, and she'd pop back up and looked at me. This went on for 30 minutes before the doctor said let's try some more. I almost called it off. She didn't want to go.

Sucks, sorry to hear, but he had a good run.

My girl was 2 1/2 when we had her Spleen removed then she still died from Cancer a week later.

my 14 year old Sheperd had kidney failure. Had to do it back in Feb. I miss him, it was tough. You'll know when it's time.

I had to VERY unexpectedly put mine down on Easter Sunday a few weeks ago due to surgery complications, and the fear + the way she looked that day will haunt me until I die. My fluffy girl's fur was hard, damp, and thin from her spending several days in the hospital and undergoing surgery. She was terrified, and she almost seemed to not know who I was? I don't know how to explain it.

I tear up if not outright cry every day.

She was my little mini bride while us ladies got ready at home before heading to the venue on my wedding day last year:

Yes! Everyone is different, but I'm not entertaining the idea for a few years. I can't do it.

I remember you talking about her on the Food board not long ago. I’m truly sorry. May 23rd will make one year that we had to say goodbye to our oldest Patches Noel.

My 12 year old beagle would never say that stuff.

He would ask if I had a treat in my hand, and if that answer is no, he's tell me to eff off...

He only cares about treats, nothing or nobody else.

We have a little 8 pounder who is 14.5. He’s on his way out and is the only pet my kids have ever known. I told my wife (no pics) we need to have a new puppy ready because it’s going to be horrific in our house when this little guy leaves this earth.

Sorry for your loss.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Last night and this morning was rough, I’m used to feeding him at those times. In time I’m sure we will get another pup.

Condolences, I'd be a wreck losing such a good boy. Adopt, don't shop. There's another one ready, when you're ready.
