We should all down some anti-depressants and mood stabilizers in their honor.

Nurses > Teachers

I've dated both and married one. They can be equally miserable if things aren't going exactly how they think they should. I've never heard "that's not my job" more from anybody else other than a welder.

One of the nurses would work 3-12s and have 4 days per week off. Paid 40 hours. She'd stack them back to back to have 6 days on 8 days off. By day 2 she'd completely forget that she ever had a day off. Same with teachers. About a week in to the school year they forget they just had summer off.

I'm guessing they get so used to having all day to do things most of us do before/after work so when they actually go to work they think they don't have time for anything.

Teachers I know are miserable, can't wait to get their 20 years in to quit. Nurses I know are happy because they get to help people. I guess it depends what type of nurse you are.

i lost a ton of respect for the medical industry after covid. fired my personal physician and now i do a $50 tele-visit or urgent care for antibiotics if i get a sinus infection.

i have an HSA so other than my yearly wellness visit, i was paying $337 out of pocket every time i visited the doctor and he consulted with me for all of 2 minutes.

the urgent care nursed me through covid after my doctor said 'good luck, nothing we can do.' after calling him.

the local urgent care has been far more rational and sane than any of the large medical establishments (and I'm looking at you VANDERBILT). urgent care practioner wasn't even wearing a mask by the end but VANDERBILT still had armed guards and a 27-step protocol just to get in the double-glass doors.

i'm sure she can attest to the 'fort knox' treatment the main Vandy system had in place during COVID because she comes to the nashville vandy hospital quite a bit.

Never upset a pediatric nurse. They have very little patients.

A nurse walks into a bank totally exhausted after an 18-hour shift. She grabs a deposit slip, pulls a rectal thermometer out of her purse, and tries to write with it. When she realizes her mistake, she looks at the flabbergasted teller and, without missing a beat, says, “Well, that’s great…some a-hole’s got my pen!”

I had to take my son to the hospital after he swallowed ten quarters. He was rushed to surgery. After half an hour I saw a nurse so I asked her how he was. She said, “There’s no change yet.”

I'm always willing to crap on OTs hate and generalizations for various things. My wife the nurse stacks days like this. Her last week off she put out 40 bags of mulch, planted flowers and the garden, got the pool ready, cooked a pile of food, washed all the laundry, and still had time for a day on the lake w a girlfriend.

Everybody is different.
