Will be relocating to NOLA in the near future for work. Current plan is to buy as I expect to be there for 5+ years and, if I move, willl always want a place to retreat to in the area. Have been leaning toward purchasing a condo in the Warehouse District/ CBD but wanted the board’s opinion on the following areas as well while I conduct my search: [i] Garden District, [ii] Irish Chanel, [iii] Central City, [iv] Bayou St John, [v] Marigny/ Bywater

FWIW, I am mid-twenties and single. Will be working in the CBD. Don’t need a ton a living space. Most of my social activities are done out and about (bar/ restaurants/ events). I am leaning toward of condo for the minimal upkeep down the road but wouldn’t pass on a smaller single family home if its in the right area. Budget is <$350k

Appreciate all feedback

Friend,

We moved from Prytania to Mid City by City Park, the nation’s finest city park. Although I miss the St Charles streetcar, I like my new surroundings. The Canal St streetcar isn’t that far away either. Warm welcomes to the city. Please join us for the Advent scavenger hunt, caroling, and hot chocolate-cookies after party this winter.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

Need to know more about your preferred weapon of choice before a complete recommendation can be made.

Will be a good time to be buying IMO. I think you will see a number of desperate sellers.

I'd look at South Market District.

At <350k, I would just try to buy a condo in the WHD like you have planned already.

I would say the CBD is the obvious choice, but if you can find a small, nicely renovated house or maybe one side of a double near Bayou St John within walking distance of Esplanade restaurants and Jazz Fest, that could be an amazing place.
