Natchitoches or Alexandria?

If you could choose to live in either for 3-5 years which would you choose? No kids so schools aren't an issue.
I think both are going to be comparable as far as my hobbies: fishing, running, and other outdoor activities.

Natchitoches is a nice town but it is a college town too. And you’ll drive to Alexandria for the bigger stores when you need things.

I lived in Ellick for a year in my early to mid twenties out of college. COL was good and you had all you chain stores for shopping, but there was nothing to do once I got off work.

Natchitoches has Cane River and Sibley Lake right there. Plus closer to Toledo for fishing.
Both have decent trails for running. Natchitoches has Red Dirt area and Alexandria has Wild Azalea.
Both have easy access to Kisatchie.
Natchitoches is smaller and more of a college town, but outside of Front Street, it’s sucks.
Alexandria doesn’t have much else to offer either.
I’d probably do Natchitoches.

Natchitoches easily.
Alexandria is depressing.

I think Ellick gets undeserved hate on here but I would pick Natchitoches all day.
I would take Ruston over both, though.

Depends where you can afford to live in both. I’d try to live on the water if possible…Kincaid or Lake Cane River…or is it Cane River Lake?

I would do Natchitoches mostly because of Maggio's.

Eww dude.
Why don’t you branch your search out a bit.
You’re not required to live in a dogshit town.

Don't you live in Alaska? It will be a big culture shock.

East Tennessee or Utah

I mean couldn’t you just order stuff online to your house if that was the only reason?

Yeah I love it here, but I have an opportunity there to get a little more experience to get to where I really want to be career wise. Still have some other opportunities, but leaning more toward this one for now. I am going to have a little time of the holidays to think on it.

Natchitoches. Amazon and the like make bigger towns irrelevant for shopping. Natchitoches has better festivals and Krewes than Alexandria. Still short drive to Shreveport if you want another restaurant. Dallas, Houston, BR and NOLA only 3-4 hours away. Generally friendly and welcoming people. Has a sort of south Louisiana feel due to the French, creole and Catholic influence so feels different that all of north Louisiana.
