Person falls to death at ohio state football stadium during graduation

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A person died at Ohio Stadium Sunday after falling from the stands during Ohio State University’s graduation ceremony.

University spokesman Ben Johnson had few additional details. He said police and other emergency responders are on scene. The university will make counseling and other support resources available to those affected by it, Johnson said.

An eyewitness told the Columbus Dispatch, which has reporters on scene, that the person fell just as the final graduates were filing past the area where the fall occurred. The commencement ceremony’s speakers did not reference the incident, the Dispatch reported.

WBNS TV, citing Columbus police, reported that medics declared the person dead at 12:25 p.m. The ceremony was scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. and last for two and a half to three hours, according to OSU officials.
