Boy, did you guys understate what this procedure was like. The extraction was one of the most uncomfortable scenarios I have ever been in in recent memory.

Notice I said “uncomfortable”, not excruciating pain. It wasn’t painful, but my god at the doctor pulling on that sumbitch. Imagine a threaded bolt as my tooth and a nut as my jaw. Now imagine someone trying to pull that bolt through the nut without twisting it out. Back and forth this guy went for 20+ minutes. I think I blacked out at one point from the jerking and the gas. I could tell what was going on but I didn’t have it in me to move. It was like a sense of stress and relaxation at the same time. Weird feeling but I pulled through.

I was able to get the bone graft and the insert done at the same time so no more drilling going forward. Just waiting to heal and then I can get the crown. I haven’t taken any of the 800mg of ibuprofen, yet, but I might come bed time. The hard part is just dealing with an open wound in my mouth.

You might want to go ahead and wash down one of those giant Motrins with some scotch.

If doing an immediate implant the way you did you have to be a lot more careful with the bone to keep it intact. That’s probably why it took 20+ mins and so much constant luxating. The implant portion is really easy. It’s the extraction that sucks.

Also if he didn’t give you pain meds take two extra strength Tylenol with the ibuprofen. Great pain reliever cocktail.

Are you a dentist? I think you may have pulled one of my wisdom teeth. If that was you, then you did an excellent job. Really improved my whole quality of life.

Had four teeth pulled for my braces back in the 90s. They spaced them out. I think it was one lower on one side, couple weeks later the other side, then both sides on the tops. Might have the top and bottom mixed up. Two of them came out pretty quickly. One took a while like you said. I guess being careful for the teeth around it. I had crowding issues. Pain wasn’t too bad. They gassed me good and put a big shot in each time. No pain meds. Just ibuprofen and cold packs. Feels better in about 2 days.

Had my wisdom teeth taken out not long ago. No swelling and the worst pain I had was like a 2/10 three days after. The surgeon called and was stunned I wasn't in pain. The wife said I must have a horseshoe up my arse.

Dude, I did that shite on a numbing shot and some gas as well.
It was like a form of medieval torture.

I would have rathered the Dr tell me to get as drunk as I could get and then had it done.

Things have changed since I got my wisdom teeth out back in the day. Gas for the procedure and 30 Percodan for the after.

I opted to only get nitrous oxide for my 4 impacted wisdom teeth. The only thing I was worried about was that the music in the room wasn’t loud enough. i never understood why people opt to go under general anesthesia.
